Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

Wow!! I played the Fusion with my 5-string and a HARD hitting drummer today. It sounds SO good!! I ended up using Channel A with the gain as low as it would go to achieve the HIGH volume level we were playing at. Master on full. I couldn't get it to clean up completely since I was playing REALLY HARD with fingers back on the bridge pickup. The bass used was a passive Lakland Joe Osborn 5er with Duncan single-coils. These are not high output pickups.

Ended up with the 'deep' switch on, 'presence' off, 'contour' off, EQ flat. What a wonderful, supportive, non-boomy low end it puts out with a 5er! The amp just sounds 'alive' with lots of detail in the mids and highs. So far, I'm really impressed with this 4.5 lb. wonder!!

Has anyone tried using Channel B for their clean tone, then using Channel A for distortion? I've been doing this and like it because the distorted 'A' tone is thinner, which is better for solos and stuff, while the heft of the 'B' tone is great for everything else.

Is this thing on? Tap, tap, tap.

It does not work for me. Heavy overdrive from Channel A sounds tinny and farting with my bass and my playing style. I generally prefer both clean and overdriven tone from the Channel B and regret that both channels are not identical to B :) YMMV, decidedly.

This is of course a question to the guys who actually could play through both models.
MB Fusion adds the 500/800 Hz ("Bright") switch for contour, the Presence and Deep switches, and formally nothing more. In my opinion, the tube sections for the pre-amp, the EQ, Presence, Bright, Deep and Contour really do their work. Additionally, you can set different Gain and Volume for both channels. As the experience of Tallboybass proves, only manipulating the Gain on both channels already gives great tone shaping capabilities.

Today, the band brought all the gear to our new and own rehearsal room. The room is very small. With the drummer's high dynamics, I will really need to switch channels for quiet and very loud songs. I need however to play with the EQ again to adjust the amp to the new conditions. Funny thing was using the Presence. Since I could not really break through the mix (and the band hates volume wars), I turned the Presence on. Standing in front of the cab, I got high pitch feedback ;-) Yes, rolling the trebles off helped. When we started playing, I got instant yell "Turn down!". Presence off, and everybody was happy. Meaning, the Presence makes you really present ;)

Now, somebody complained on the fan starting spinning even if the amp is muted. Now I know what it is. The cooling fan starts spinning when the hot tubes heat the air inside the case above some level. (I have to repeat, the cooling fan in my amp is too loud for acoustic music, but will be inaudible with any louder music).

Notes:
1) 112 covers are back ordered
2) the fan is noisy when it's on; I find it more bothersome than the Walkabout, but, when you're at a gig, no one will care. sounds like bearing noise, and not wind noise...
3)so far, it's very flexible, and seems like "I can make my problem basses sound good" with it rather easily
4) the cabs have back plates that differ from one anther. for the full range/biamp switch, one is a recessed red slider, the other cab has a protruding black ribbed switch.
no big deal, but, the cab with the red slider has an L-pad rotator that's loose and vibrates like crazy. I picked my setting and duct taped it down....I'll call GK about this after a bit.
5) Those P-Audio horns can be driven to distortion easily if you don't have them turned way down. Fortunately, way down is plenty.
6) One cab had something rattling around it it. Fortunately, it was a loose, random wood screw, and not some shipping damaged/broken component.
7) the head isn't the best fit in the bag, you kinda gotta stretch the bag out some to get it in there. it seems to only want to go in the bottom half.
8) fan just came on at idle...kinda noisy...worth repeating.

Man, I think this rig's gonna work really well for me!
