Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

YouTube - SZMATA - Kelner & Mikes - Nie Nie Nie

We've just covered The Damned's "Neat Neat Neat" with the icon of the Polish old-school punk rock, Paweł Rozwadowski (Kelner). I post it here for three reasons:

One, the main bass line was recorded via MB Fusion, and you can hear different tones using the same bass (Sandberg), especially in the intro and in the instrumental part. MB Fusion helped me to get the punchy tone.

Two, you can watch MB Fusion and G-K 410MBE in the vid.

Third, just to thank David Price for his inspiration to wear a fedora hat ;-)

(Ah, the dark figure appearing sometimes is the Distant Man of the Damned's song ;) )

This song (Neat Neat Neat) is actually spun around the distinct repetitive bass line and I could try different drum and guitar playing using the Cpt. Sensible's bass line as the backbone. Besides, I'm not that great bassist, Graham ;-)

Hey guys,
Thank you all for very informational posts. I was wondering, if anyone has any sound clips of the amp alone? There really is nothing on Youtube for it. I am in a bit of a dilemma. Before I read this whole thread, I was pretty sure about purchasing the MB fusion 500 (second place was the Terror 500), now hearing rumblings within the thread, as well as reading an article with Bob G. roughly saying, that the MB 800 is one of the best GK amps to date. I don't know if I should wait for the 800? I know for sure that I will not need 800 watts, 500 is more than enough. What I am looking for is a classic warm sound, with an ability to get that edge! I am doing heavy blues, hard 70's rock. I am trying to achieve a sound similar to the early Michael Anthony tone to a Jimmy Bain tone. I most likely will use a GK 212 and use a 115.

The GC near me has a bass section the size of a closet with only MarkBass, Acoustic, and Ampeg. Damn shame no love for the bass. I would greatly appreciate any sound bytes of the MB fusion 500. For those gear nuts who are getting the MB 800 as well, if time allows, please do the same.

Thank you very much. Session Music TV has some of the best reviews on Youtube. Too bad I don't "spreakin ze Duetchze" (sorry for the massacre) I have seen this and it is somewhat helpful, except the majority of it is slapping the bass. No offense, but I am so sick of seeing every review all people do is slap da bass. At least near the end, I can hear the voice that I am looking for from the amp.

Hey guys. This is to all who own or owned an MB fusion. Does the voice of the amp sound similar or can it get very close to that of a Genz Benz? Say a shuttle? This is a sound that I would be most happy with as a platform. Something similar to this.

Is Doug one of the best bass players you have ever heard or seen? Simply amazing. The fusion is cheaper and if I can obtain a sound similar to that I will gladly go with the fusion.

I just picked up a MB Fusion a few weeks ago and just sold my ShuttleMax 12 this week so I had some time to compare the two heads side by side. They can sound "similar" to one another depending on how you EQ them, but they are definitely different. Where I noticed the biggest difference was in a live setting. The ShuttleMax is a little more polite and even across the entire spectrum while the MB has more edge to it. The MB has more natural growl and grit, and it can get that really dry solid state tone that I personally prefer. The ShuttleMax is a little sweeter sounding to my ears.

Both are great amps, I was just ready for a change and so far I'm really liking the MB a lot.

Wow, that guy can play huh? That sound is all about everything ...his fingers, his touch, the pedulla, bartolini's, the Shuttle 9.0, the uber cab. Can the fusion sound like that? ...can your fingers? Mine can't. LOL :help:

Oh yeah, it can get that thick articulate slightly wooly sound. Or be very sweet and clean.
Agreed though that there are many other factor in that video getting that tone.
I'm pretty damn close with my Fusion, TC RS210, MXR M87 bass comp and Warwick Streamer Jazzman.

wonder how it stacks up agains the Tone Hammer?

Well I think we are in all agreement that first and foremost, the player makes the sound. Then you have the wood, pick ups, cabs, head, strings, where you play on the bass, etc. I was just wondering if the sound that is coming out of that Shuttle can be mimicked by the fusion.

His tone is IMMENSE. He plays with "authoritative fluidity", he is like a bass force of nature. I can't even change his strings let alone sound or play like him.:) That's why I want to know if the amps can create a similar sound.

How about the low end of these two?

Can the ShuttleMax be EQ'd to sound like the low end on a clean setting of Ch A of the MB-Fusion?

I just got myself a GK Fusion head. It was my first ever experience with GK products as well.

I believe I finally got a piece of gear that I truly like and I really dig that 'growl' tone I naturally get from that head. To me, it is a fantastic head. It is not an SVT by all means, however it sounds just fantastic to my ears. At 4 pounds and with the tube preamp, it is a winner.
