I was bored and rather than do anything constructive I compiled all the players named in this thread into a master list. I didn't pass judgement on anyone other than to google *name* + bassist for players I hadn't heard of. Only a couple failed that test and I left them out. Not every bass player on this list uses a pick exclusively. Some may not even us a pick primarily but I'm assuming for the sake of argument that every one is a GOOD pick player. All the names I recognized certainly are.
I also had a name of my own to add which on an eleven page four year old thread kinda surprised me. Mark Ranson, Sonny Landreth's longtime bassist. Great player.

...I never understood why so many "fingers only" guys have always looked down on Picks....the only reason early bassists used fingers was because most of them had switched from upright...there is no rule...same with guitar...would you say that John Williams isnt a "real" guitarist because he DOESNT use a pick ?
