Surprised that Rex Brown hasn't been listed yet. I don't think it gets any better than him for a good solid metal with a pick sound.
Sean Yseult from White Zombie/Rockcity Morgue is a pretty solid player too. Never mentioned when you're thinking about "the best" but for what she can do with her tiny hands, I'm impressed. Plus she was my first major celebrity "crush" or whatever you call it now.

I was wondering if you admire bassists who use constantly pick, and are great bassists. I can think right now of Billy Gould, from Faith No More, one of my favs bassists.
FOR the 10000000000000000 time as far as pick bass players go its all about LEMMY.
I saw Motorhead once and his sound was mush. Couldn't even make out what he was playing. I thought picks are supposed to give you clarity. Chris Squire is my fav pick player.
