Double Bass Great Female Double Bassists

I met Eperanza when she played here in Gothenburg a while ago. She seems like a nice girl, not arrogant at all. She played and sang great during the concert. But the thing that really makes her an artist, is her stage present. Always fun to watch, smiling and having fun on stage. It´s not that common among jazz artist. It´s really important how you act on stage and she gets that. Lesson learnd for myself... 
Another great female bass player, from Switzerland but lives in Sweden, Nina De Heney
Her style is more avantgarde, but she has monster chops and isn´t joking around.

She is really great. I have a nice trio cd of hers. There is also a great Austrian double bassist, writer and musicologist named Nina Polaschegg.

I don't think Rhonda Smith plays double bass. She was playing an upright electric bass (really an electric bass guitar played vertically) with Beckola.
How about Nicole Badila from Franfurt, Germany. She plays in a jazz/funk fusion band that tours Europe.

It looked like a legit EUB, if it has double bass scale and you can bow it is a double bass.
It is not a double bass. You know it, and so does everybody who really knows what a double bass is.

Sorry PW - it is an ELECTRIC double bass - not a bass guitar played vertically! I love having an EUB, because bass guitar is just not for me anymore, and like tonight, when I need to play in a louder/electric context I can, and I use my double bass technique.
Damon, you're one of the few posters I'd do this with because I respect your passion for your music.

If I hadn't seen her playing that instrument, would I have thought it to be a DB? No. And no, she is not a great female double bassist, or even a great player of whatever that instrument is, in that clip. IMO.
If I had heard you playing an instrument like that with your ability, I might not hear the difference if I couldn't see you doing it.
Final point: In terms of the clip....it's not visually a DB, nor does it sound like a real DB to me with her playing it.
Musically and bassically speaking, I think her playing is pretty pedestrian, if that.
I apologize for derailing, but I'm underwhelmed by the Beck Grammy clip.

I've never heard Jacqui in person. I have heard and Felt Orin in person. The floor and the walls were shaking with her sound.
Orin O'Brien was the first woman to be hired by the NY Phil, advanced to associate principal behind John Deak and then Eugene Levinson.
Jacqui Danilow plays with the Met. She was in regular rotation until the Met reduced the size of the bass section. She is an associate. She plays a bass attributed to Maggini which Arnold Schnitzer restored. She also commissioned Arnold to make a bass out of aspen. Stunning.
