Let her know, maybe she's not aware she's tapping on the bass.
She's doing better than I would with McCoy, that's for damn sure. I'd be peeing myself.
That would be easy.......but I chose to do it here.

I doubt that will happen, Marcus.
It's always easy to take shots at people through the mask of anonymity with no back up in terms of playing or experience.
It happens almost daily around here.
My TB PM is available 24/7.
That's all fine. Even better, we could invite Esperanza to address these things herself. It would be great to hear from her in these forums. And because she already communicates freely on the internet on MySpace, it would be easy to do the right thing and encourage her to tell her side of the story, and maybe learn something from a talented kid in the process.
Just sayin'.
To be fair, so is Esperanza's myspace.
Seriously people, let's not get sidetracked by negativity here. If somebody doesn't like somebody else's choice for a great female player, I think we can all get past that. Personally, I think Esperanza's doing just fine playing with McCoy. She's not my favorite bassist, but I think there's a lot of talent there. I wish I could sing and play at the same time like she can. Or play with McCoy, for that matter. Or better yet, both.
And keep in mind that while everyone is allowed to have their own opinions on the bassists listed in this thread, people are also allowed to have opinions on the assessments - positive or negative - of the bassists in this thread. The important thing to remember is that it's a sign of security and maturity to be able to state your opinion as such and not try to change anybody's mind with it. I doubt anybody is going to get their mind changed on a player they don't like because of a conversation here. State your opinion, then let it ride. If others disagree, then that's just their opinion. As long as we keep it all above the board and respectful, it's all good.
48 years ago, at the Five Spot, while they were playing, I saw Charlie Mingus snatch a bagel from a customer's plate.Yeah, went to Yoshi's and caught the McCoy Tyner band. 10 years, whatever.......what matters is right now, the music being played in the moment. In 10 years, a lot of things will happen.
Spalding had an annoying habit of practicing her right hand (nails extended) pizz patterns on the side of her bass during three or four of Mcoy's solo piano intros. "Ticity tacity ticity tac", ect. loud and clear through the house.
She spent more time preparing for her solos than supporting the music.
McCoy and Fransisco Mela played beautifully together.
How is that relevant to what I said?Yeah, I hear that Mingus had a way of extending himself to women customers.
Knock yourself out.![]()

It sounds like she may have been annoying that night with McCoy.
