The great similarity between Sadowsky and the US Geddy Lee is excellent construction from superior components. If a person wants a traditional passive Jazz, the construction of a US Geddy Lee will compare favorably to any higher priced boutique.

Anybody waiting for orders gotten an update? I ordered back in June/July 2020...was told June 22 a month ago now mid-July.

You're more patient than I am. I cancelled my order after 6 months of shifting delivery dates. Maybe someday, after the world settles down again.
Funny thing: they gave me my money back, but my order is still showing as open. I'm tempted to wait and see what happens...

I am still waiting.... I'm told November now. But I'm only waiting cause I have two other new guitars/basses that I'm really digging right now. But my GAS is still there and there's no way I'm spending $350 CAD more for it in the future so I'll just wait it out.
Got the call today from Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta - my Geddy Lee (reportedly) shipped! I ordered it in July 2020, so after a fully year I hope everybody's glowing reviews are correct! It should arrive next week and I'll be sure to give a full review. Fingers still crossed!
Does anyone know how the USA Geddy’s “custom voiced 70s pickups” compare to Fender’s Pure Vintage 74s? I have a MIM Jazz with PV74s that I like a lot, but I have a bit of GAS for the USA Geddy…

All - I got the call that my Geddy is in the shop. They told me that out of the box the neck had a ton of relief - he described is as 'like a half-pipe'. They were able to get the next straight and they feel there's some room left in the truss. How would you guys proceed? I'm going to check it out soon, but it's concerning. I'd expect some relief, but not so much they'd call it to my attention. Obviously, with the roll out with these, it could be another 6 months if I did a return. Not sure if Fender would just send another neck under warranty.
Don't wig out. It's completely common for this to happen. That's what the truss rod is for.
Went and checked it out this evening. Super cool bass and will be a good addition to the arsenal. I've never played a maple with block inlays, so that was neat.
Unfortunately, the shop luthiers did not have a good feeling about the neck and discussed it with Fender. It was decided to send the bass back and have Fender send another one. Apparently they have some stock on hand to facilitate the exchange - we'll see about that. After waiting a year, nobody wanted to settle with something we weren't a 100% on. I realize opinions will vary on here and I wasn't there when the bass arrived, so I have no additional insight. I bought my AVRIs from this same shop so I'm comfortable with their attention to detail. Hopefully, the exchange will go fine and we'll have a happy conclusion to the saga.

Well if they both agree, then that's what you should do. Usually, though, it's not a huge deal.
I have the PV74s in my 1972 Jazz bass and a USA Geddy so I can compare. I've also owned the Aguilar 70s set, the Nordstrand 70s wind, and the other 70s set Fender used to make (can't remember the model), and the Tom Brantley "Geddy" set. The 74s are my preference over all others.
Compared to the USA Geddy they are more articulate and clean where the Geddy's sound a bit more loose and raw. The 74s sound much more similar to the stock pickups in my 1972 than the Geddy's. I actually prefer the old Japanese Geddy pickups over the newer USA Geddy pickups. Now THOSE were some snarly, growly pickups! Too bad the newer MIM Geddy doesn't use them.
Yeah Jimmy, we're on the same page. I think the fact that Fender was in agreement and/or didn't have any push back was what swayed me. Also, I've only paid 50% on the bass at the old price of around $1700, so nobody has anything to gain by causing unnecessary heartache. I have a small thought that the bass was probably OK, but again, I wasn't there when they got it and opened it up. They said they had to tighten the truss a good bit to get it straight, until it got pretty tight - again subjective terms. Hopefully, the shop and Fender are doing right by me and replacing the bass. This will push me over $6,500 in bass purchases over the last 2.5 years at this shop, so I feel they are shooting me straight.
