Tried to watch Stalingrad tonight. Subtitles were hit and miss for me. I must be impatient; I lost interest.

As I recall at the end he returns to with the residents to the aslym. They appeared saner than the people on the outside.
Dam Busters Wow, haven't seen that in like forever. I remember being in awe of them skipping the bomb across the water like a rock.

The War Lover - Buzz Rickson, the perpetual screwup who is only good at flying, which he loves more than anything, even people. One of Steve McQueen's better roles.
The Winds Of War - It was a mini series so I don't know if it qualifies as a movie, but it did decent justice to Herman Wouk's novel of the same name.
Come And See - This soviet era Russian produced film set in WW II with a biblical reference for a title is unusual in that it is more a cautionary tale about the ravages of war on the human psyche than a movie about the war itself. Not for everyone and unless you speak Russian you will have to contend with subtitles, but I found myself totally engrossed early on and after it was done I was glad I stuck with it.
84Charlie Mopic - Since we are occasionally straying off into the Vietnam era, this low budget independent film is IMO one of the best films set in that "police action".

HBO killed it with Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Both of them were absolutely outstanding.
Saving Private Ryan, and The Thin Red Line were also excellent.
Its not a movie, but With The Old Breed, by E.B. Sledge is not only the best WWII memoir, but possibly the best book I have ever read.
