Grindy tone to push a warm OD?

I've got a Barbershop OD that I am absolutely loving right now. It gives that perfect edge of grit and warmth to my Sterling that I am totally digging right now. I'm looking for something grindy that can push the OD of the Barbershop for a more "advanced" agressive OD tone.

Think something a bit better than a Boss OBD-3 but not as crazy expensive as the Darkglass B3K. What are my options in there that wont break my budget ($150 tops)?

I know that the B3K might really probably work for me...but making up the other $75 is a bit more of a challenge than I'd like it to be. Hence I'm trying to explore the tonal possibilities to help me hunt for the sound I'm trying for in combo with the Barbershop to give it a boost in the OD but also keep the fatness.

I know. We're a rabid bunch:banghead:

Ggggggrrrrrrr!!!

I was thinking the same thing about the B3K to help push him into that grind he's speaking of. I use a boss ODB3 WITH the B7K and it sounds amazing IMO. Alone, the ODB3 is meewa, but with my preamp, yessssss! Everything sounds better through darkglass IMO. Good luck on your search. I'm sure you'll get many suggestions. Fuzzrcious seem to have bad a** stuff and their not crazy expensive.

not sure if you want a warm preamp with grindy OD, or an effect to put on top of same.

for warm preamp with grindy OD - the EBS ValveDrive - I use this all the time:

for an effect I use the Iron Ether but I don't think that's where you are going with this.

The digitech hardwire cm-2 tube overdrive might give you the sound you wanted.Link Removed

Does this pedal really do what the reviews says it does? I love tube grit and this thing sounds great. But is it?? I have my doubts and always have about digitech products. I had the bass processor they made a whole back and thought it was trite crap. Can this pedal hold a candle to say something like the MP blueberry?

Also been wondering this. Perhaps a visit to my local music store is in order. I do have that pesky tax return to spend after all...

It sounds a little different than a Blueberry...to me the CM-2 has more grit and punch while the Blueberry is more round and fat. I only sold my CM-2 because I got a B3K.

Keep in mind that this is a Hardwire pedal, which is different from Digitech. I won't touch a Digitech, but I love Hardwire.

For $65 or so, what do you have to lose?
