THIS IS ONE OF MY "HOLY GRAIL" BASSES...!!!

Please sell this bass to me...?
Probably gonna keep this one. :)
It's a 1985 SB-603...it's one of about 50 SB-603's made total, and I have no idea how many of those 50 had a maple neck/fretboard.
I was surprised when I saw this bass, I was unaware that they made any with a maple fretboard and the black headstock combination.
I also did not know at the time that there were any with the conventional P pickup config instead of the reverse P layout.
I also thought that early ones that were P pickup only, had a Dimarzio Model P in them.
It also had the truss rod cover, I just had it off at the time I shot the picture.
I also got rid of the black circle string tree and put on the normal roller tree that the Pilots have.
I have a buddy who has a black body (P+J EMG) Pilot that has a painted black neck back and a rosewood fretboard. It is the only black/black/black one I've seen.

Ooh, a SB-603 with a maple fretboard, I think that tops mine!

Do you know what it weighs? Mine's at 6.5 lbs.
This weighs in at 8.0 pounds on the bathroom scale.
Don't know how accurate that scale is, the bass feels light but does not suffer neck dive thankfully.

I keep fotos of this bass in my mobile phone gallery...Sometimes, I look at them and I...touch myself...

About a month ago I missed a maple body Pilot that had the most figured maple body ever... the thing was insanely beautiful.
Finished in a lightly tinted clear coat, just looked like aged clear coat that tends to yellow a bit.
It was $1000 bucks which is what made me hesitate until it was gone.

I'll join in - I'm the proud owner of a 1986 Pilot 5 string...

Hey man, love the Pilot.I have it's 4 string brother with the same finnish..Best bass I ever played.I bought it about 25 yrs.ago for 300 bucks in a pawn shop I just happened to pass by and saw it hanging on the wall in beautiful condition. Luckily I had my C.C. on me and bought it immediately. Best bass purchase I ever made.

Thank you. I hit refresh on Reverb as it went from 11 to 12 Pilots and got lucky.
My mistake was sending a message to the seller asking for pictures on why it's 'fair condition', it was sold by the time I finished writing. Curious how you like it.

I inquired about the whitish one also because it's described as 'very good' when it's clear there are several condition issues. Seller says it's just 'lighting issues'. I have 4 Pilots, I'd like an unlined fretless at some point.

It's slated to arrive tomorrow and I'll give you a heads up as soon as I've been through it.

I woke up this morning to discover that I bought the Guild Advanced Pilot serial #2 at midnight last night after I finished playing and waiting to get paid. Mobile phones and Buy It Now buttons are dangerous at that time of night but hey it's a way cool Pilot.

So that has me wondering, who has serial #1 and/or what color finish is it?

I was very close to buying that myself!!! Congrats!!! 2 is the lowest serial numbered advanced pilot I’ve seen. I’ve owned numbers 18 55 and 155.

Thanks. Small confession: I bought #3 last year. Both #2 and #3 are amber.

#3 gets played at gigs/jams frequently, strung with GHS Precision Flats and in mint condition.
#2 will be round wounds. Appears to be be in excellent condition.
#1 ??????????????????
