The guy who owns the bass in question only said this:

"I put the di marzio’s in it and it had a rosewood finger board.
It’s has a shortened maple board on it set to 30 inch scale. I had the original board somewhere to return it to stock but have misplaced it."

That's all I got from him about it because I was pretty excited at the time...However, I'll be sure to get more info about it asap and you'll be the first to know when I do, my friend...Personally, I want to know more about what's going on with what looks like a big selector switch where the 3rd control knob SHOULDN'T be on a 603...:D

Heads up, friends - you don't see these early "painted neck & headstock" V1 hockeystick headstock Pilots up for sale everyday - with an original case that looks to be in great shape (topside anyway), too...

If I was living in the USA, I would 100% buy this bass.

I'd try to get a bit of a better price, though...It's not really outrageous as it is, for what it is - in my opinion. If I was living in the same city and could just drive over and pick it up, I'd show 1000.USD cash to the seller and I'm pretty sure that I'd be leaving with this bass...

I hope someone here gets it - Good Luck...:thumbsup:

Definitely double what I would be willing to pay. But if he gets it, more power to him.

Just because it’s unique does not make it desirable: this bass has zero intrinsic value and it’s not playable. To make it playable ruins its provenance. I can think of no justification for the asking price. Who, honestly, would “have to have” this bass so badly that they would pay a premium for it? It’s a curiosity, not a relic.

This is, at most, a $500-$700 bass, since it’s fundamentally no more valuable than any other Pilot Pro in its condition. But free shipping to the US!

This is a gentleman I have come into contact with holding one of his Pilots...He is well aware of how much I covet this bass and hopefully one day, I'll be able to share fotos of it together with the rest of my collection...:hyper:

This is only the second "Zebra" Pilot I have ever seen...This one left the factory like this - I'm not sure about the other one, but I *think* it did, too..
