Guitar & Bass names

I initially assumed naming instruments was sort of a given, but Talkbass has proven to be reliably and aggressively opposed to it. Still weird to me.

But doggone it, I'm a fan! My main ones are Wolong (bass) and Zhoukong (baritone acoustic). Could write a couple pages as to why, eh.

Incidentally, I also have a Mjölnir, but it's my car. It came with am aftermarket super neato hi tech alarm system that the dealer made me pay for. Dumb thing was fickle, made it so I never knew whether the (silver-colored) car would judge me worthy to operate it. Boom. Mjölnir.

My wife thinks I'm nuts for naming all of my guitars. Tell me I'm not the only one!!

My current lineup:

Grace, too - Traditional '60s Precision
Carol - Traditional '50s SC Precision with Flats
Scarlett - Red Lado Neck Through Bass
Penny - JV Modified '60s Custom Tele
Juanita - Cabronita Tele
Estelle - Takamine Acoustic

Previous guitars:

Grace II - MIM Special Edition PJ Precision
Grace - Starcaster Bass
Frankie - Tony Franklin parts Frankenbass
Yasmine Bleeth - Hofner Veryrhin Guitar
Gretchen - Gretsch Electromatic guitar
Falcor - Squier VM Jazzmaster
Vickie - Airline Map Bass
Wendy - Garrison Acoustic
Eleanor - Lado Amberburst guitar
Augustus - Cello

But I've also named some of my cars:

Suki - Honda Ridgeline
Prudence Cordelia Kensington III - Mazda 6
Sadie - Acura Integra

And a couple other things:

Lucille - Pool Cue
Clancy - First grey chest hair
Mjölnir - Throwing Axe
Benny and the Jets - my uh, junk. Lol

My favorite guitar that I've named, btw, was Wendy. I named my guitar after my friend because they both were blonde, both made in Newfoundland, the grain on the back looked like Ws, and they both had a wider bottom. Lol

What are some of your guys'/gals' guitar names?
My friends have named my car Griselda. Someone once commented that my car, a 1995 Buick Century, looks like a cross between Grandma on her way to Sunday service, and a mob guy's ride that has cash, drugs, and a body in the trunk. So, the members of one of my bands decided to come up with a name that fits a granny who is also a mob boss.

Generally my wife names them.

cherry burst 5502- Dante
1955 American standard upright- Lorain
Burst 62 reissue - basic b

Previous:

blue p- skye
Sea foam green 355- Ariel

currently have an unnamed MTD 635 but the mrs is tired of naming brown/ natural wood basses. She says all my basses and guitars look the same. She’s not wrong. I have a type.

I generally don't name them, but a couple have earned nicknames over the years. I had a beautiful Roscoe SKB-3005 that my wife named "Yasmine". (I think because I was spending a lot of time with it, and she figured that the "other woman" deserved a name.)

My very first bass was nicknamed The Kanardly, because the action was soooooo bad that you "Can hardly play it."

About 5 decades ago, when, as a young-un, I was intrigued that BB King named his guitar "Lucille". Other folks' axes also had names, so I figured, as I began the process of bass accumulation ("collecting" is far too genteel a term for what I do) I queried my sax player at the time, who I still consider to be an excellent source of inspiration for these sorts of endeavors, to suggest a naming scheme for my basses. His offering: "Longfellow" followed by the ordinal number of acquisition. I thought this to be a most splendid approach, so now I have Longfellow 4, 8, 11, 17, 26, 31, 49, etc., etc. Hell, I don't know if any of those numbers are right, I just have a big ol' buncha Longfellows (a few short Longfellows, a coupla Extra-Longfellows, yada yada yada...).

The only one I've named is my Ibanez SR600E. It's Lady T, after my late girlfriend. I bought it with my share of her will.

Now I need to see your car! Pics please.

I used to give them names but it involved some confusion. I don't do it anymore, but my previous bass was Roxy (the model by Human Base) and my current one is Vincent (the brand). But I decided to have only one, so I call it Bass.
