Put me in the 'well, that's creepy' camp - but hey, you do you.

I always wonder what is going through a person's mind as they are up there fingering a bass they named after some random (or not random) girl. I don't want to know what they might be thinking. Eww.

I don't name my basses. I do have one bass that came to me named, The Mothman.

The only thing that cracks me up more than some people's bass names is the anti-naming hatred these threads inevitably draw out of people

People sticker basses, people draw on basses, people buy/do "relic" jobs on basses, people mod "iconic" basses, etc....I'm having a hard time thinking of something more benign than naming a bass, which I'm near positive those doing the naming aren't as serious as some are making them out to be.

That's as far as I've gone. Doesn't bother if anybody names theirs, though. They do their thing and I do mine.

My MTD is named Suzy. she is very dear to me and anyone that doesn't name their main instrument is weird

There's alot of "anti-XXX" something or other on TB.

I never thought about actually naming them but I guess it just happened over time.

You got that right. In the event of my demise the aforementioned kids have claimed taking the J & K ones back as wall art.

I have my kids painting emblems and such on the car im restoring. I just will not be able to sell it

My white blonde P, blue P, and red Jazz basses are named Little Elvis, Little Elvis, and Little Elvis respectively.

I refer to my Johnson as Little Elvis too—all mere coincidences.

Some of my basses have names others don't, mainly my Carvin LB50 basses. My main squeeze and partner for 40+ years is Taz is all Koa and my profile pic. I have another Koa that has EMG HB pickups is Toney rather plain but still solid Koa. The last Koa bass is Tygr that is simply gorgeous and the last one in Ebony is my main piccolo bass Tweety.

The Unknown Blonde was my '67 natural Fender Precision that was my other main bass for over 20 years until she had to be retired to luxury somewhere in the Hard Rock Cafe collection.

Why only two strings?

Same reason as for the nut riser - I am a Mark Sandman (Morphine) fan, sometimes play slide bass.

This is a cheap MIJ Ricky copy - gotta be 40 years old, put a Fender heavy bridge onnit and tune in 4ths or 5ths.

I have a headless Cort set up with 3 strings, also, in 4ths or 5ths, with an octave.
