Guitar Center used site

Guitar Center debt has been downgraded today to CCC-, which means "default is imminent."

I'm sure they will be around for a few more months, but by summer......finished.

What happens to the inventory?

Its very, very hard to predict the exact point in time a large company like GC will fail. I've seen dead man walking companies shamble on for the better part of a decade due to additional financing from unwise inverstors or unexpected market upticks.

But yes, GC's financial situation is grim, and it seems unlikely they'll be able to pull out of this death spiral. Predicitng exactly when they give up, however, is just about impossible.

It's one of those too big to fail scenarios, they're the main seller of Fender and a ton of other companies...if they go down, they might take most of the industry with them.

Maybe they know that many people who try out stuff at GC go buy what they tried out at their many on-line stores, being MF and what, another four or so retail sites?

So maybe GC still adds to the overall profits, just not from their physical stores.

Keep in mind I pulled this theory straight out of my arse. :)

GC actually makes a good profit last I checked, the problem is it can’t keep up with the debt that Bain Capital completely wrecked them with :/

Brick and mortars are not doing well. I go into GC and I see decent deals and good people. I just don't see a successful end game.
My GC purchases have been online. How do they cover the overhead? In the end, they cannot.

It could be a mixed up picture. They mix those up often, especially if they have a similar bass also in stock. I was ready to take that gamble, though for sure!

EDIT: With a little detective work, that's exactly the case. You can see individual store's used inventory and they have an Amer DLX Jazz V in stock, looks like the same bass, just shot twice.

One is indicated as Good Condition. The other is indicated as Great Condition.:D I hope the buyer chose the correct one.

There's a 2007 Dean Sledgehammer5 at my local GC, ash/maple for $199!
Needs the usual strings and setup, good condition for a 10 year old bass. Nice grain, too! This one is lighter than mine, by at least 1/2lb. I think mine weighs in around 10.

I was not aware of this model.
Looks like a Thumb with a hint of Dolphin.
I personally think it's bad structural design to hollow out a battery box right beneath the bridge though.
