Ooh! My first ever nice bass was an '86 Jazz Special, exactly that grey color -- now fretless, cause, well. It was the 80's. And I was swinging it around my neck, and one of the straplock screws decided it was a little bit much, and I was on concrete.

It was a JM made reissue from May 2012, $5500 new. If I had missed out on a $50,000 amp I'd be kicking myself right now. Wonder if Kenneth ever made a bass amp???

Called about the Lakland, had a large chunk of the body broken off and glued back on, guy said it looked horrible
I was in the Huntsville, AL GC today and saw a Lakland 44-01 on the wall. I played it and it was really nice. It was a Korean made model. Really nice action and great tone. They had a $499 tag on it, and I'm willing to bet they'd take less. If I would have had the cash I'd have bought it.

That sounds much worse than the "repaired finish crack" explanation I got when I called!
Been on the fence about this one all day. Definished body, Jazz route with EMG P/J, looks like it's about at refret level with fret gouges. Replaced PG too. Love the fact that the girl kept insisting that the body had original finish and that it had no mods. Still, a great deal for somebody if it plays okay. The store manager is apparently a bass player and gave it a thumbs up....but that means entirely nothing to me
