From the photo shown this would be a 50s CV P bass, I would be on this if it made sense for me to get another bass and the profit would be very small ( factor shipping both ways) but the deal is very huge if your looking for a solid gig bass for low buck.

I kinda feel like a douche for doing this, but I bought it. Should get here on Tuesday. If I don't love it, I'll pass on for the same $109.

The guy says it plays and there's only a ding on the back. I'm skeptical because for $109 that means they gave someone like 50 bucks for it. We'll see.

No reason to feel that way. It's always first come first served unless prior arrangements are made.

Personally, if I'm looking at an eBay auction or some other gear offering that I'm seriously considering, I don't tell anyone about it.

If I saw something at a local GC that I couldn't live without, I'd probably buy it online, "shipped" to the same store (shipping charges are $0) and then if I didn't like it, simply return it before leaving.

I came up with that plan after (initially) missing out (by about 10 to 15 minutes) on an instrument that I decided I really wanted. I saw it the day before, didn't buy it, saw that it was still online, drove the 4 miles from work the nearest GC and found that some guy (still shopping) had set it aside to buy it.

Ultimately it worked out in my favor because it appeared back on their site a few days later. I called the store, they said they didn't have it, so I decided to buy it online to see what would happen. Next day I got an email telling me that it was ready for pick up...and it was in the store.

The sales guy told me that the guy who bought it ahead of me said it didn't sound very good. I got it home and found that he was right, but after some pickup height adjustments, it was fantastic!

Whenever I walk into GC, the FIRST thing I check is the counter area. Some stuff that just came in doesn't even have a tag yet, so it's the freshest used gear... and sometimes it's a STEAL!
Granted, some is still crap, but it's my go-to for first glance.

Im glad it went to someone here, I had 2 of them and didnt dig the 50s style ones but I like the 60s P and J bass.

I stopped by during lunch and saw this.. would buy it if I had the $$$. Cosmetically it looked mint to me, I didn't plug it in but it played alright (usual GC high action and in need of new strings). Don't know if it's the Fender TSA case either...

Arrrrrgh...I have it in the cart. Total, $755...with tax and shipping. I'm so tempted, I'd be so killed at home, but I'm still so tempted. I can apologize my way out of a $200 purchase, but probably not a $750 purchase.

If it was an Olympic White one I'd be writing a different message at this point in time.
