There is a Peavey Axcellerator 4 string for $149. I dont know the next time you will find a usa made bass with a 18v pre amp an double humbuckers for the low.

Heh, mine also came without the pickguard taken off but inside the case. I tried to fit it to the bass but it did not work. I ended up just filling the holes, it came out very nicely and I like it better.
Time well spent!!! Helping the bass playing community is the worthiest of causes
Alas, the guard was nowhere to be found say the GC folks in Boise. I'm thinking that bass looks better without the guard anyways. Nice pic!

Ridiculously cheap for a neckthru with Gibson USA pickups. No picture to go by, but it could be a steal if it is as advertised. Says condition is "great." It might be worth a call in the very least.

Classic is passive with Gibson humbuckers. The Pro IV has a preamp, and I believe Epiphone p'ups.
Ok, so I grabbed this one. Totally different from all my other basses, should be fun. Sales guy said it was in good shape overall but with some fret wear.
I knew I shouldn't have played a Thunderbird at GC last weekend!

Nice score. Those Epi Classics seem to get rave reviews here on TB. I hope the bass is true to the rep's judgment of condition. That's what worries me about the lack of pictures - putting stock in their opinions and hoping for an honest evaluation. I had the same situation with that Hofner. Let's hope for the best!

I consider online buys from GC as essentially risk free, as the local store will take returns without question. I've had pretty good luck so far buying online sight unseen. If the fret or other wear is too much, back it goes.
