Guitar Hero - great game... addicting!

I got this game last weekend and I'm totally addicted to it. I finished medium mode and just started on Hard last night. Thank god for the practice feature, that has to be the best part of GH2. It's the only way I can make it through some of those songs.

So far my favorite song to play is Thunderhorse by Dethklok.

my friend got this game a couple weeks ago and we can't stop playing it, it's great. I don't know about the whole being-good-on-actual-guitar-makes-you-suck-at-this-game thing, a guy i know is pretty good on guitar and kicks all our asses :eyebrow: . and then he tries to steal our girlfriends

i had no idea there were bass parts though! i'll have to check that out

Yo, since I posted about Guitar Hero a couple days ago, I've become a god at this game lol. I borrowed it from my friend today, I beat every song exept for Bark at the Moon on Medium the first time around. I have a question: How do you guys strum the string? I pretend that I'm holding a pick and down-pick with my middle finger. This method sucks for up and down picking though. I tried only up picking like I was holding a bass but I felt that I was plucking the string too hard and am afraid that I'll break it. Whats your method?

I've only played GH2 a little bit, so I can't really comment, but in GH1: I use two methods, and I can play any song on any difficulty well. I basically always have my fingers like I am holding a pick, and I will use my thumb to downstroke on random notes and beats, and then if there are straight 8th/16th notes or consistently place notes, I will strum. Sorry if that sounds a bit confusing, but it works wonders for me.

I originally wanted to play it like a bass and tried to play it like playing fingers with a bass, let's just say that didn't work very well.

word. that said, i played guitar hero for the first time last night. I must say... it did not live up to expectations. A lot of the rhythms they have just arent accurate.

Id feel like a lot of the criticism from this community is probably not so valid because we're not really the target audience.

P.P.S. in retrospect, I thought TB was going to be more bitter towards this game.

Got this game a few days ago myself. Wasn't sure if it would be worth the 80 clams (felt a little goofy buying it as well), but I've decided it was worth it. Rediculously addictive, I've already gotten through career on medium.

My only complaint so far is how bad the lyrics sound on 'Laid to Rest'. Not like "oh my god, how can he say that?" bad, more like "wow, Randy Blythe would be offended to hear such a pitiful immitation of his voice" bad.

I played for the first time on Thanksgiving. I really sucked at You Really Got Me. We all know as bass players, our timing has to be inpeccable. I found myself listening to the music instead of watching and it was throwing me off because the timing of the game is a little off. I'm wondering of that was done on purpose? It's really fun though.

I was watching some footage from E3 on G4 the other day, and they had the dude who made the game. He was demo-ing GH2. He said you can play bass in the new version.

How long until one of the electronic gurus around here figures out how to wire the game through their own personal bass??

Is the Flying V controller as good as the Original SG controller?
Cause the Flying V controller is 3rd party. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well, there's really no quantifiable proof either way. Personally, I love the game. I haven't seen any negative effects IME.
