Behold my bass-baritone-guitar-to-be!
Currently tuned E1–E3 like a bass vi, but I’ll try it in B0–B2 when I get some beefier strings. Full story here.
My primary guitar, « Green T » partscaster in its current form (the Bigsby as the latest mod)
The T7 FM looks like something close to what I want.
The coil splitting (to get closer to a Tele sound) is a bonus. Fixed bridge is a bonus too (looked at others with whammy bars). Thanks for that.
9.5" radius in familiar, as is the scale length. No learning curve - which there was with my Player Strat as it had the flatter board.
I don't mind a more modern sound. It's that 'creaminess' (even clean) that only humbuckers can do that I'm after. I'm no shredder, either.
Dammit....now I have GAS, and have to save up my pennies.
So with all the sage advice from fellow TB'ers, I think I'll be going for the G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe.
What I like is the shape (Tele), the look (WOW!), the humbuckers, the coil tap to quasi-Tele, and the minimal controls. Love the sound of it too from the various videos I watched. Seems to be perfect for my needs.
My one stumbling block here is the neck. 12" radius I can handle, but G&L basses I tried had weird feeling (as in shaped) necks. Does anyone have any experience of this guitar? How does the neck compare to a Fender?
I really liked the neck on my G&L Legacy Strat type thing. Substantial but not chunky, just a good tweener neck with no surprises. I have liked the necks on four-string G&L basses I have played but I found the five-string necks too chunky or clunky or similar.
Thanks. I tried an old G&L that had a neck like a baseball bat (not the handle end, either!), and another that just didn't feel right. I have a little more forgiveness with guitar necks. If their 'Medium C' is anywhere between Strat and an acoustic, I should be fine. Thanks again.
I never used to like Telecasters, but then one day, I started to find them intriguing. I was at a GC one day and saw one on the wall on sale. I tried it and had to have it. I brought it home with me. The rest is history.

Wonderful machines — there could easily be a bit of doctoring, a la the strat's ergonomics. That'd suit me just fine — I habitually kind of rely on those contours, one for the paunch, one for the punch
But I get by. Something about a tele. No doubt

Arrived about 2 weeks ago. I also have a steel string OM by Michel. Both have been getting played a lot. Will probably send the new one in for a setup when I start my next long stretch at work.
This one has a history. I acquired it from a co-worker about eight years ago when I traded a mandolin or a mandola for it. 2001 MIM with not a scratch on it. Then an old friend/band mate wanted to buy it, so I sold it to him, and immediately regretted it. He had it for about a year, then decided he wanted a Nashville Tele, so I bought it back from him. I hardly ever play it, but I like it, so I guess it’s back for good.
I photographed this guitar yesterday in a rehearsal studio. A father of local administrator made this from Soviet Ural guitar.

Got my guitar board done for now. Getting so much fun ambient stuff outta that seafoam chorus, brig delay and fathom reverb

New whizz-bang delay in the offing here. I don't dig this level of complexity, normally. But I like the box
and the brand. This'll be the fifth delay in the kitty — an EBS ReTracer Delay Workstation. The last was a tape core deluxe — hardly scratched the surface there but I like it, so far — lush. Prior to that was an AD-999 — pretty trick, bucket brigade tank. And, prior to that, a DE-7 — very cool silver machine. The one that I teed off with, back a ways, is a DD-3 which, to this day, is my comfort zone/set-and-forget delay, still going strong.All of them are rewarding in their own way. Don't know about the retracer — we'll have to see. Being midi-equipped and true stereo, this one may well be the jack-of-all-trades addition (hopefully) that'll find a ready place anywhere and everywhere, across the board. Hours of family fun (huge learning curve) perhaps delaying the inevitable. I'm up for it

Guitar project 1. Swapped out the pickups of my Taylor T3/B again. I have one with higher gain PAF style pickups that's in the original configuration. This guy was intentionally different. It previously had Lollartron pickups and a rotary tone switch. Great tone, but too similar to the other one. This one has Vintage Vibe pickups with a Charlie Christian neck and P90 bridge. The vol is push/pull parallel/series with a push pull phase flip on the tone. Custom pickups...and I think he got the order mixed up because the bridge was weak and neck crazy strong. My local shop was able to compensate with pickup height, basically putting the neck flush with the body and bridge basically touching the strings. It sounds good enough that I'm not going to complain. The phase flip can add an interesting retro pawnshop vibe.

Number B. New strap. I wanted this for a long time and spaced it off. Real rattlesnake. It's fixed length because I keep guitars/basses in the same spot, usually forever. The underside is suede, which helps me keep it at closer to a classical angle as well as giving me better control when tugging on the strap B bender lever.

Love the strap! Guitars are awesome too... but I love the Rattlesnake. I considered leather bound with my green snakeskin straps, I want Rattler for my pair of Guild Starfires, will be considering leather bound for that one too.
