Great idea,Spector! I`m not a hunter(wayyy too much work for me!)but I love guns(all kinds)! Target practice or plinking is just one of the funnest things you can do,IMHO.
Next year I am going to try and get to the range at least 1x a month.I`ve got a Glock model 23(.40) and a simply gorgeous Sig Sauer P232(.380).The Glock is my baby and I`d like to get the lighter 3 lb. trigger in her.The Sig I bought to spoil myself several years ago because,although I`m not a huge fan of the caliber,I had lusted after this particular weapon since the 1980`s.Mine is the fully stainless steel(matte not shiney) model and I put a set of walnut Nil Grips on her.Feels like an entirely new gun! I also own a Walther P-38 that was my very first pistol and purchased in the mid-80`s.It`s an Interarms "West German Police" trade in.Alloy frame makes her very light and that sinister profile makes `em stare at the range.
The pistol came with an extra mag and the used white holster(w/officer`s name & # written inside by owner).My Walther is the loudest handgun that I have ever firerd or heard being fired.Not exactly sure why that is.

I`ve taught all of my daughters proper gun safety and the basics of how to respect and handle a firearm.
Hope you all have it better 2nd Amendmentwise than we here in the People`s Republic of Kalifornia.

i'll join...i'm a Life Member of the NRA, shoot IHMSA, X-TC and F-Class competitions, and have successfully hunted Deer, Elk and Black Bear with pistols and rifles since i was old enough to go...
i won't list my firearms here, but my wife jokes that i already have "enough guns to take over a small Banana Republic", so why would i want another one ?

It's called back door gun control; make ammunition and shipping liability so exorbitant that poor and middle income people cannot afford to protect themselves.
Agreed, but keep in mind that your Dies, press, scale/powder measure etc etc are one time expenses....
reloading can make the shooting sports less of a hit on your budget, or allow more shooting on your current budget(vis-a-vis factory ammunition)...
EDIT: reloading also allows you to tailor your ammunition to a specific firearm's unique chamber/throat dimensions, increasing your accuracy potential.
You cannot actually believe that??? There is no Governmnet conspiracy escalating the prices of reloading supplies.
It's actually called capitalism. Manufacturer's are capitalizing on the fact that demand for ammunition is high so the prices creep up.
It's also called fear... I never thought I'd see the day that the ammo shelves were bare but last year after the transition of the new administration I went to go shooting and not one, but four of my local retailers (including Wallmart) were completely out of standard 9mm. I was shocked!
I really do not want to continue this train of thought and i apologise for initiating it because a political discussion can get the thread closed. But what I said is not a matter of belief or disbelief; or politics. It is a matter of historical record. Check to see how many FFL's were held 20 years ago and how many are held today. Check to see who would transport firearms and "explosives" 20 years ago and how many will do it today. Do you believe that regulation and civil liability have no effect on a market?

While I do not deny the number of FFL's is drastically decreased compared to before the Clinton administration, I also do not think that is necessarily a bad thing. I knew a slew of people with them back then, and I feel we are better off with a smaller amount of honest "businessmen" licensed with sales/distribution rather than a large group of "hobbyists". Tight regulation of such goods is a prudent thing. Obviously this is IMHO.
I am a strong believer in the 2nd amendment and I do not believe we will see any change in it's status in my lifetime (or beyond). The packed house in my concealed carry instruction class last month was proof that citizens will ALWAYS be concerned with their personal safety, and for that of their friends and family as well. I was very proud to see a huge cross-section of the populace in the class... from punk rockers to house wives... I was really impressed.
As long as we educate our children with proper gun instruction and be responsible for our actions I think the future of gun ownership in this great nation will stay strong.
