Any sharp edge or corner has been worked over with a ScotchBrite wheel. I don't think it's a coating, I'm pretty sure it's blueing over a matte finish, probably ceramic bead blasting.

EDIT: After looking at it again, I posted asking him about it. Even on a matte finish, bluing looks more blue. The gun guys always come out with the latest greatest coatings.

The high end .45 guys all seem to have some proprietary coating that is slip, corrosion, abrasion resistant and self lubricating. Its good stuff. I've handled some Wilson Combats with Armor coat, And my Kimber has what they call "Kim-pro" finish. I like the overall finish on that Rogers a lot.

The problem is that some of the people that do some of the best coatings often go in and out of business. I've seen a company do thousands of knife blades, all beautifully done. Next time a large batch of blades come out horribly wrong and nothing can be done. One of the best coaters, Walter Birdsong passed away last year :( Also, some of the coatings are thick and can only be applied to certain parts or areas on the individual parts. The high tech coatings are an art in themselves. Rogers gun could be done in something as simple as black oxide, it's metal preparation under the coating that makes it look so nice.

I received a call from the gun store today... the previous owner of the Glock I purchased on Tuesday dropped off the case, loader & manual. I dropped by after work and picked it up and found the original sales receipt from an Ace Hardware store in southern Oregon from last July for $569. So at $419 barely used I really scored. Very happy camper!

I grabbed my father and went to the club tonight for my first shoot with it and I'm impressed. Here's the results into the trap at 7 yards...

I also brought a Stainless Taurus 1911 clone in .45 cal. Being a heavier pistol with a SWEET trigger I did this...

Does anyone know at what yardage the Glock factory sights in their pistols at? My guess is 25 yards. I think I would have seen my grouping fall about an inch and perfectly hit the center if I was a bit further out.

Overall I am VERY happy with the G23. It's very comfortable and I think I can be quite consistent with it after a few hundred more rounds. :)

Both of my Glocks were dead on height at 25 yards. Nice shooting and congrats again on a great Glock. That's the only other one I would like to own besides my 21 and 36.

I've actually only shot this piece one time as I have others, necessary for my day job(watch repair and retailer,see my profile if curious). But it is a beauty - Browning, 1964 Renaissance model,hand engraved in Belgium.

Where I live in West Virginia you rarely get a shot over 150 yds due to terrain and growth so the short bbl 1894 in .44 mag is a perfect fit brush gun...my second favorite is a Ruger No. 1 in .270 with a Redfield wide view scope

That's exactly how the terrain is in NY where I hunted. My wife has a Winchester Ultralight in .270 with a Redfield Widefield scope :D

Come on guys!! I get a months vacation and you let this thread fall to the depths of hell?? :eyebrow: :D

I picked up this neat little blaster a few weeks ago. We have a new gun shop in town with a nice indoor range. I bought a 1 year membership so that knocked 10% off the price and I got a bunch of other goodies too.

The Rohrbaugh R9 is beautifully made gun. The fit, finish and attention to detail is absolutely amazing. Being the worlds smallest 9mm, it has a pretty snappy recoil but for what the gun is intended to do, that won't be a problem. While I'll put a mag or two through it every so often, it's certainly not a plinker.

At 7 yards, I was able to put all 6 rounds in the size of a lemon. At 20, I put them all in the center of mass on a full size torso target. Pretty damn good IMHO.

I'll be making some carbon fiber grips for it ASAP.
