    Hello,

Do you know if Mister Guy Pratt the session still got his EMG fit in his vintage Jazz Bass ?
Where can we listen him playing with this bass ?
Do you know record he makes with this bass ?
I'm very curious to listen this combination.

    Thanks

    Hello

No Guy Pratt "specialist" here ?

    Thanks

  3. Give some time, this forum does move fast but a question this specific might not get answered immediately.

Sorry, I do not have any information about Guy Pratt. Someone here might thought.

I do however have EMG's in my Jazz and love them.

JA's are fairly recent, so it's highly unlikely Guy Pratt uses them in his Betsy bass. Pretty sure his is loaded with EMG J's.

I think he favored playing that bass with David Gilmour back in the '80s-'90s

Search youtube for Guy Pratt-some good videos up there. May give you some insight on his gear.

If I remember correctly, that bass was Gilmour's, and he loved it so much that Gilmour randomly gave it to him one day.

Nope, Betsy is burgundy mist, which is a fancy word for pink. That's a stock 62 stacked knob Jazz that David Gilmour gave to him.

Really? I thought Betsy was the one David gilmour gave him. The Pink one i believe it belonged to John entwistle, i read it somewere.

So, i believe he is playing Betsy on this clip:

Yep. Don't know where he got it, but that's it. He is really underrated. Good thing he works with David Gilmour and probably gets paid well enough not to care ;) I heard Gilmour pays pretty darn well.

    Hello

It seems that a lot of studio session men like Guy Pratt play vintage JazzBass with Emg :

Alex Al, Victor Bailey and Richard Bona

The Jazz Bass with EMG was very great for studio work..

    Thanks

betsy and it's EMG pickups are on Maddona's 'Like a Prayer' and Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song', both of which are played through a Boss OC-2.

It sounds like it's on some of the tracks from Bryan Ferry's Bete Noir album (possibly Mamouna as well), and is probably also on Pink Floyd's Division Bell.

If you can handle it, it'll likely be on Jimmy Nail's stuff, in particular 'Ain't no Doubt'.

IIRC, Guy Pratt played on the Still Crazy soundtrack, which also features Jimmy Nail. That's actually a pretty cool record!
