I'm still pissed about my college band director inventing a invitation only audition process so that I couldn't play bass in the jazz ensemble. The music department called a few years ago and ask if I wanted to contribute to the Benny Truax scholarship fund. I told them to call back when it was a memorial fund.

sounds like him getting fired wasn't personal it was business. I agree that it's never does anyone any good to be angry with another professional. Someone's going to have to break the ice, if you want to remain at least acquaintences - throw down the olive branch or in this case "a shot or three" & see what his response is.
