Guyker Xtender Drop Tuner - How Is This A Thing??

Spotted this while I was researching Hipshot Xtender Tuners for a bass. Has anyone seen these yet?

I have seen many reviews of Guyker tuning machines being poor quality. High stress tuning machines are not something I would want to cheap out on. At this price why not go with the original US made product made by Hipshot?

Came in about quarter of the price of a similar hipshot, with the added bonus that all threads are metric, unlike the Hipshot where I had to order special 6/32 UNC saddle grubscrews online at £1.20 each.
Guyker seem to be upping their quality just recently in my opinion.

I tried one of their bridges too, but only to harvest the saddles. I thought it was a very good value. Surprised with the quality/price ratio.

I have used Guyker locking tuner sets on a couple of guitar kit builds and was very pleased with the quality of them.

I have not purchased any of their bass hardware, but wouldn't hesitate to do so if I'm building a kit, as the hardware that generally comes with the kits are pretty crappy right out of the box.

I would stick with Hipshot. You pay extra but the quality can't be beat and they are one of the few companies left who have an incredible service department. Ever have an issue, THEY WILL take care of you.

It's 1/3d of the price here, so worth trying out for me atleast.

I try not to listen to too much hubble bubble about products I havent tried. Especially 3rd hand accounts. You say you've heard from someone? Thats fine, but definitely not enough evidence for me to avoid a potentially substantial saving, personally.

Idk if its because the hipshot patent has expired or other companies just havent bothered making a drop tuner before, but competition in the market is good.
We go from no choice, to two options, to several options. Companies compete for their market share by offering better quality, and lower prices for their customers.

That's a win for us.

Sure, theres an original, like the badass bridge, or viagra, but there's also cheaper and just as good alternatives out there.


Competition is good, having options is good.

I was shocked when I saw the Guyker was $80...when I checked the price for the Hipshot my jaw dropped. I bought one of those a long time ago and it was MUCH cheaper lol

Hipshot's been making these for over 40 years. Any relevant patents are long expired and the tuner key shapes that Hipshot uses are cribbed from other tuner companies. (edit: If you want to call out Guyker for other products, like one of their headless tuner bridges, I'd back you up -- I just think the d-tuner thing is a non-starter.)

Looking at the provided link, there are multiple reasons to get one of these over a Hipshot.

Dunno what the currency on this website is but it's a dot com which would lead me to believe it's in US and US dollars, unless it's a scam site then $21 sounds very well priced about £17 over here and I'd be tempted too except I wouldn't know what to do with a drop tuner.

...they're listing things like the Fender American Pro II Precision Bass for $300, and Squier basses for $70.

I won't say they're not legit 'cause that's an actionable claim, but I will say that I see somebody claiming to sell products for about 80% less than known-legitimate vendors' discounted prices, I'll wait 'til you report back on how your transaction with them went

Guyker stuff is fine to good. Tuners aren't rocket science, it's a worm and a gear. The principle has been known (probably) since the 3rd century BC.

I recently bought some CTS pots from a UK online music store and when they arrived they came in a package with a Guyker sticker on them which is strange as I don't see CTS on the Guyker website. We all know CTS's factory is in Taiwan but the pots I had were stamped CTS, measured at 245 ohm and 260 ohm respectively for 250k's well within the +/- 10% and had a nice solid turn to them. If CTS is now being manufactured in China instead of Taiwan I'd say the Chinese are striving to build much better these days than before, maybe to shake off their tardy image from years gone by?

I’ve got at least 2 guitars where I’d love a tuning key with a built in noise gate!

Ya that's pretty wild how quality varies.
There's good and bad in everything. I remember when everyone would rip out alpha pots for cts,bournes etc now high end etc are using alpha.

Even Schaller has issues. I ordered a set of strap lock buttons. The new 1 piece ones and 1 of them was machined to the wrong size and wouldn't fit the strap lock. They sent out a new set right from Germany and I got a bill from FedEx for 90 cents. Lolol
