Guys - Who Hates Football?

I don't expend my strongest emotions like love or hate on things like football. I save those for important things like effects pedals and guitarists, respectively. :p

Seriously though, I quite like American football, I watch a game every now and then. I prefer hockey and motor sports however; MotoGP racing is awesome, if you have done any motorcycle riding on the track yourself you can maybe begin to understand the level those guys are riding at.

For the most part, yes. NASCAR is really nothing more than an orchestrated show and I got bored with the NHRA dog and pony show...... too much emphasis on the pro classes and little to no respect or coverage for the sportsman classes, which are the guys that hold the organization together. NHRA's final blow to me was when they shortened the track to 1000'.

The other forms of motorsports (ie, Indy car, F1 etc....) have never interested me and probably never will.

I'm not a sports fan, but I'm especially disinterested with football. They run, they stop, they run again, discuss it, run again. I also find soccer boring too. The field is just too big. Too much running.

Actually it's Miami Heat and not Heats. For as little as I care and/or know about sports, I have noticed that they are one of the few sports teams out there who's name doesn't end with the letter s.

Count me as one of the people who doesn't "hate" the sport per se, but finds the culture surrounding it a head scratcher at the least. I don't think there's anything wrong with rooting for a team, but the almost religiosity that surrounds football is weird. People take throwing a ball around a little too seriously sometimes (for the record, I think people take music too seriously sometimes too). Also, when someone says, "I hate Team X," what does that mean? Does it mean the person hates how they play the game? Do they hate the team players personally? Or is it just a tribal in-group/out-group thing?

I gave up on NASCAR when they no longer looked like "stock cars". Sure, I know the bodies were subtly modified and there was all kinds of interesting cheating, but that was part of the fun. If they don't look like cars I see on the street, they no longer interest me.

The cookie-cutter cars they have driven for years are booooorrrrriiiinnnnggg. I have trouble figuring out why anyone would want to watch.

The assumption by a lot of sports fans is that everyone is into sports. I've been asked by people in passing today about the games and when I told them I didn't pay attention to sports, I got that look like I had just farted.

Check out some Nostalgia drag racing, the way it use to be done when it was still fun. All front engine dragsters and funny cars with early 70's style bodies that you can actually identify and still burnin 90% nitro, Good stuff

One of the sanctioning bodies we competed in years ago (NSCA) ran a nostalgia super stock class that was as cool as they come. There is nothing quite like seeing a stock bodied full size 1960's car running 9 second et's without nitrous or a blower.

The only classes I care for these days are the stock/super stock and .90 classes. The pro classes are all about money and the bike class doesn't interest me in the slightest. Even the fast streetcar racing has gotten so out of hand that it's nothing more than pro mods with license plates. We successfully competed in the streetcar ranks and racked up back to back championships as well as a best engineered award before the whole thing spiraled out of control and the series died. We offered suggestions to the powers that were to attract more racers and put more asses in the stands but we were largely ignored. Oh well, we tried.
