Guys - Who Hates Football?

I'm a football and baseball guy, and I really enjoy and follow both of them. I follow basketball only at the college level, and only my alma mater. Pro basketball can go fall in a hole...there's no defensive technique or basic skills, it's just a footrace from one end of the court to another.

I don't hate ice hockey, but I dislike it. If they'd outlaw the fighting and turn it into a sport instead of a stick fight, I'd be more interested. (No, it wouldn't ruin the game - it would clean it up. Strike another player and get ejected from the game.)

I'm kinda "Meh" about ball sports in general despite having played on a very good HS football team. Way too much money and attention directed to a bunch'a guys who are for the most part poor role models. I do sort of enjoy an occasional game, for the spectacle and primitive energy of it.
Wow, my town (Seattle) is sure in a tizzy about the football thing right now. 'Was downtown today and there were mobs of Hawk and Niner fans taunting and insulting each other. Lots of Dick-Waving going on.

I hate the sport commonly known as football.
Lots of potential for entertainment ruined by rules about violence and drugs.
Come to think of it, sounds allot like reality in America.
Don't much like that either.

American football? No thanks. Background noise mostly. Fußball, yes! Love it! Though I do admit, it isn't always the most action-packed sport out there. Got my roommate into it as well, but he's a sports guy in general. I also love hockey, but mostly because it's essentially soccer on ice and actually televised in the states.

I don't hate it , I just don't like it. The worst part is the people that are convinced that this sport is played by real machos men. In the other hand I cant wait for the world cup to start. I got the brazuca last week and brought it to my son's team practice to start the Brazil 2014 party.

Football is the ULTIMATE SPORT!

Frontal impacts and collisions are maximized. The occurrence of sudden injuries is also maximized. Watching people get maimed on TV is the epitome of entertainment and this is exactly why football is so popular.

More importantly, debilitating long term injury, due to the repetitive pounding of massive bodies slamming against each other, day after day, week, after week, year after year, is inevitable. Every participant in professional football sacrifices his long term health for the immediate entertainment of the crowd. Sacrifice is noble. Giving up your health to entertain a crowd is about the most noble thing there is.

The best part is . . . . in America it all starts in grade school and high school! Every professional football player in America learned how to play the game before they had pubic hair.

Gridiron is way too stop start for me, and when the teams are so massive, rotated depending on play and your play generally lasts well under a minute? That gets boring. A 60 minute game which lasts 2-3+ hours from start to stop?

Rugby (Union, 7's, League) and Ice Hockey are more to my regular viewing with some Association Football here and there. Also watch the odd game of Shinty, Hurling or Aussie Rules Football when I want to watch nutters playing sport :p .

I don't hate sports. I can watch and enjoy pretty much any sporting event. It's just way down low on my priority list of things I'd like or need to do. It would be nice to spend a leisurely afternoon in Wrigley Field watching the Cubs lose. These days, time is too compressed for extended periods of mindless distraction.

I am surrounded by many people who love it. I personally don't give a hoot. Here, it's mostly Alabama or Auburn. I didn't go to Alabama but one of my kids just graduated from there and the other is a sophmore . I have a closer connection to that school than most people and I still don't say "we" won.

I miss the old days when Joe Paderno would square off against Bear Bryant. THOSE were the days!

I really like NFL football, but I can hardly stand to watch a game on TV any more because of the number and length of time-outs and commercials. You have time-outs (usually with commercial breaks) between quarters, on every change of possession, after every score, 3 called time-outs per team per half, injury time-outs, instant replay/review time-outs.... The constant barrage of commercials just wears me out, and I eventually lose interest and go find something else to do....
