No they're not - I can think of many far worse wastes of money in recent years.
Okay, can we agree that they are a waste even if opinions may vary on the ranking of the wastefulness?

My main issue with professional sports is the amount of resources that we invest in then to make the billionaire owners richer. Stadium subsidies are the biggest waste of taxpayer money ever.

I applaud Atlanta's mayor for rejecting the stadium there and instead using the funds for infrastructure. I was listening to some reports he cited in his decision that showed many cities that shelled out for stadiums in hopes of revitalizing the areas around them just weren't seeing much of a return on their investment. Some neighborhoods were actually worse off because access to the new stadiums completely bypasses them. Much like Walmart in some respects, except Walmart might actually pay for their own stores to be built after paying for the land themselves.

It took guts to make that move, but it was the fiscally responsible thing to do.I applaud Atlanta's mayor for rejecting the stadium there and instead using the funds for infrastructure. Never mind the wastefulness, do you realize how much gender inequality there is with football?
I just heard that National Football League Commissioner Robert Goodell is proposing to do away with the extra point kicks after touchdowns.
So, the only roles a place kicker will have is kickoffs and field goals.
Since there are only two players (place kicker and punter) on a football team who actually use their foot to move the ball, why is it called football?![]()

I really don't have any interest in football, but I do like beer and fried things with cheese in them.....
So, I really don't care who's playing or who wins, but I will most definitely come to your Super Bowl party.
How many guys here actually hate football?
