Hammersmith K waitlist club

I've been following Hammersmith since they started. I don't have a bass on order, so I can't comment on that. It does sound to me that the response to this bass has been huge and maybe they weren't prepared for this quantity right from the start. I don't know. Supplier issues from overseas are something that cannot always be planned for either.

Anyway, I am curious to see more on this bass in the future. I'm definitely interested in one, they look killer.

50% deposit down. Honestly the uniqueness, the desire to support a small-business, the cool factor of it being a TO company (I love Toronto!), and most of all, the very low price point, are all what attracted me to the K series.

BUT....I want my bass. I've waited over a year for guys to completely custom make me basses from the ground up, but I (naively?) figured that this type of build would be much quicker.

So, You've just paid a deposit on your brand new car....

Let's say it's a BMW.....

You know where I'm going with this I'm sure.....

I do, but the comparison doesn't work yet. Functionally, at this point you are paying for the building of a "custom" bass, not just it's assembly. If I'm reading things right then when you put down your deposit they still have to order the body to be made from the foreign supplier.

I imagine that their goal is to have batches of pre-finished bodies and necks on hand so they can assemble the basses as ordered -which would be more like the BMW example- but clearly they're not there yet.

I do hope that they get in contact with their waiting customers and get on their feet. It's an interesting business model and they have some nice ideas for basses, but good CS is essential if they're going to make a go of it.

Yeah if you go back and read the original thread where the K was introduced.....and input regarding a TB edition was requested.....it was obvious that they only had a prototype or two. They didn't even send the design to the manufacturer until they confirmed there was enough interest in the model to move forward.

That part is understandable.

Claiming a 6 weeks turn around and not communicating much since is where the problem has come along. First off, that was really unrealistic to expect a new model of bass to be manufactured, crated and shipped in six weeks....never mind allowing time to assemble, set up, wire, and ship the completed basses. But, then again, through conversations I have had with Marko, it seems that the factory has made him a lot of unrealistic promises as well.

I have a feeling that a lot of the negativity in this thread would be washed away if Marko came in and gave any kind of update.

That's what's got me going....

Don't mind delays....I've already stated that, but for the love of all that is deep and bassy why can't the man just post an update once in a while???....:banghead::banghead::banghead:.....

I think that I'd best just hunker in me bunker and wait.....

All of this angry stuff is bad for my heart......mutter.....

I've been trying to get a hold of him since july 7th and haven't been able to get him to answer any of my three attempts. It's fair to say we've all been more than patient. Considering he's holding at the very minimum $18,000 of our money from pre-sales the fact he can't take five minutes to post a facebook update is incredibly disappointing. I'm giving the situation until the first of next month to resolve itself before requesting a refund. I've already picked out a new bass that I'm stoked on. My only concern is how do you get a refund from a ghost?

I'd actually discussed this with my wife before starting this latest round of posts and we both decided that August 1st will be our deadline....
