Hard liquor suddenly makes me sick

Hi all,

I'm currently 18 years of age. I started drinking(properly) last year when I was 17. So far, as far as drinking goes, I've been doing great. I'm far more tolerant than most of my friends and can outdrink most of them remaining more sober after half a bottle than most of them are after a couple shots.

Last weekend, we together with my roommate decided to get a 750ml bottle of Bacardi(quite cheap of a rum). I ended up drinking most of it, around 600ml, with an empty stomach and no chaser. Downed the whole bottle of the cheap crap in less than half an hour. It got me pretty messy and just as I laid in my bed to sleep I started throwing up like crazy all over the room. Never before had I thrown up after drinking. I had to clean up the place the next day while hungover.

The point of this post is, as I'm writing this, I'm sipping scotch. Sadly, it is making me kinda sick. My body's reaction to last weekend's overkill I guess. I had a couple pints of beer and some wine earlier this week and had no problems. The taste of somewhat cheap whiskey(Black Label) reminds me of the the Bacardi and makes me a little sick.

The question is, how fast can I recover and go back to drinking hard liquor?

Thanks.

An alcoholic in the making. Congrats! I hope you take a good clear sober look at your post soon, and glean something from it.

That's assuming of course that this isn't a troll post - which after taking a quick second look, I believe it is. If so, good one :). Congrats on that. This thread will grow quickly.

Yeah! Troll post. And a rather amateurish attempt IMO.
But in case not:

Stop it. You're making terrible choices. Reevaluate what you think is cool.

Meh, not insisting that being drunk all the time is good, but do I think it's cool? Not really. It just helps to run away from problems and anxiety. I drink mostly alone or with a good friend except for one or two birthdays. Not really a social drinker.

Good Advice Gorn.
But seriously, when Is the last time some teenager, idiot, hell bent on self destruction and breaking his parents, friends and family's hearts ever listened to a bunch of old coots handing out advice?

Be warned teen idiot, if you get behind the wheel of a car and hurt someone else, your post will figure heavily in how long you rot in prison.

I don't know if I believe you but if you're telling the truth, I'm sorry. You should talk to someone. A professional counselor or therapist.

The very definition of an alcoholic.
If not a troll, get help.
Not for the liquor, but for the reasons that you drink.

OK. Here the proper answer...

As with anything else. Practice. You'll get better at it. Lay off the Bacardi for a while, and then give it a go again in 6 months. If you still can't handle it, no biggie. Just tell people you and Bacardi don't mix well. You'll still be able to drink them under the table with whatever does work for you.

You're gonna get really good at this if you just hang in there. Whatever you do, don't give up. Quitters never win. And the only people who quit drinking are the ones who just can't handle it.

Can't decide if this is sarcasm or not
