Hard liquor suddenly makes me sick

You are already in trouble with drinking.

LISTEN to your body. Don't do what it does not like! it's telling you to knock it off.

And start by going a week without a drink to get your body cleaned out. After that, limit yourself to two drinks at most - there is no virtue in being able to out-drink your friends. Too many teenagers trying to "act like grownups" do that.

And if you find that you start drinking more, QUIT. Not everyone is able to drink occasionally - some people need to stay away from it.

What are your problems? What causes your anxiety?
It's a long story. I just think too much. I think all day long, 24/7. My brain is overloaded with thoughts and often I can't even fall asleep because my brain is constantly alert. Thus I more often than should i refer to alcohol to just knock me out.

Have you tried exercise? Long walks? Assuming you're not being silly with this thread, the behavior you describe will lead to alcoholism. You're young. You have time to change before you have a serious problem.

O

Why so mean? I hadn't heard a man so bitter in a while. I mean I realize that i did not phrase the question right but where does all this hate come from?
I may be mean but you are stupid. You may be a man by age, but you are very much a child in many other ways.
It seems that being mean is the only thing that registers with you.
That tells me that you at least have hope getting yourself out of this mess.
No matter what problems you have, drinking will only make them 100 times worse.
Maybe I'm mean to you because of all of the drunks hurting people, behind the wheel or otherwise stories I've heard from my police officer daughter.
The latest was another police officer at a routine traffic stop along a roadside who was hit by a passing drunk driver and killed.
If you want to talk about how to clean up, I will be glad to do so without being mean or judgmental. But I have no tolerance for people who are so self centered that they don't care who they hurt and how they do it.
I am now walking away from this conversation. If you change your mind let me know

Sounds like it. If you're lying to amuse yourself, it's not funny. If you're telling the truth, it's not funny. Seek help.
I mean my drinking has become more frequent and went from a couple beers every weekend to a bunch of beers during the week and hard liquor every weekend over the course of four months, and no, although I may be drunk I don't do troll posts.

Okay as I am sobering up I'll rephrase the question. Am I becoming an alcoholic?
there is no definition of alcoholic. It means different things to different folks. To me you are alcoholic if you feel like you need a drink.

Some people never let go of it and remain sober alcoholics by their own definition. That's AA philosophy.

Some people call themselves ex alcoholics. By my assessment Joe Nerve would be an ex alcoholic, completely sober. I am another but I still drink occasionally. My own degree of alcoholic endeavours doesn't rate a blip on the scale.

I recommend knocking off the booze and getting some help.

Don't mean to be arrogant but I can assure you I'm not a quarter as dumb as you may think. One of my life choices may not be right, I may in a way be weak and inexperienced. Adult responsibilities and college just seem to much for me to take along with a plethora of other issues I'm not gonna talk about. And no I don't have a driver's license and I don't drive, neither am I dumb enough to get in a car while I can hardly walk, even in my drunk state. I drink exclusively at home by myself late at night so that I can go to sleep and numb my brain a little. Just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm dim witted or near sighted. Everyone can have problems at any age or financial status.

The reason for my OP was that my best friend's birthday is coming up and I don't wanna be the one guy who can't even have a shot.

If you're being honest, you have a problem. Seek help. Please. Get off the internet. This thread isn't going anywhere and it won't help you. Seek help.

Why would I not be honest? Had I known the consequences of this post(and I knew pretty damn well, didn't I?) I wouldn't post. But what has been done can not be undone. People are quick to judge and so am I, so I shouldn't be mad. Although I probably should lay off of the hard stuff for a while.

But in the very slim chance this is real....

There is no problem that alcohol will not make worse.

I would really try to reevaluate what you are doing. It is not a good path.

If you overthink - try serious exercise. Nothing like endorphins to calm the brain down.

This has to be a troll thread. It just has to be.
What makes you think so? Because I'm young? If that is the case you are (probably) not that much smarter that you think I am. With age comes experience, I agree. But that does not mean every teenager is a nut job. I've met adults dumber than some kindergarten children. And teenagers wiser than a dozen legions of stupid adults.

You're in college? You're school has professionals you can talk to. They can help you or refer you to a specialist who can. Do that. Today. Or Monday if they're closed today.

Listen to what I'm telling you. Please. I was where you are but with lots of drugs along with the alcohol. It wasn't cool. It wasn't funny. Stop it now while you're a kid. You're 18 and a legal adult and responsible for your actions but you're still a kid.

Seek help.

No bud - and I am sorry if I am incorrect as this is then a real call for help- but your posts read like someone is paraphrasing a flyer for "am I an alcoholic?"

So so so many just stereotypical warning signs: increased drinking, drinking to forget, drinking alone, feeling like you need to drink, etc etc etc.

If the thread is serious, just talking about it is a great first step.

Then you've only been at it for a little while. Try taking a day off. And then try taking a week off. And if you are really ambitious, try taking a month off.

If you can do that, you might have a tendency to drink in a very unhealthy fashion, but you are still well within control.
