Harmony H22 bass

My worthless and unfounded theory is that Harmony made a demographic study and thinks a very large percentage of H22 buyers will be 45+ and financially able to afford $900. And that may be true, but I'd expect anyone considering one would soon think something like, "Damn, for a few hundred more I could get a Gretsch".

At $900 they could have a 3-for-the-price-of-1 sale and make money, IMHO.

Yeah, I'm a little disgusted by the selling price of the new H22's. Especially when you can pick up one of the "reissue" '63 Dano basses for $350, that's what the H22 should be going for. Capitalism at it's finest!!

Well, a good question for them is:

For $700+, do you want an H22 re-issue or an Epi Jack Casady?

Both will be in that range (Casady sometimes less if you bargain hard). I really like the look of the H22 but for the price I'd probably go with Jack.

I have an original H22 and a Casady. I haven't had the new H22 in-hand yet but the Casady has significantly better construction and components than the original H22. So if the H22 RI is anything like the originals I'm not expecting much.

Resurecting an old thread but, the RI H22 basses have some slight differences compared to the original. The tuners are standard size for better winding and keeping in tune. It's a set neck opposed to the three bolt on joint. And i think that's about it. here's a video. saying exactly what i said, with a few sound tests.
