I’m really digging all of your videos. I have a few questions for you regarding the HD cab set ups. I’m looking for a new amp and am drawn to the new LX8500. I was hoping to get 2 of the HD 112 cabs, but noticed they would be overpowered by the LX8500.
AMS is offering the same amp with the HD 2x10 and the HD1x15. Would that be the better match with the amp head? I’m in a few loud bands and was hoping for a louder, clearer sound.
I also know that mixing drivers is a bit of a TB sin, but was hoping for your insight. Thanks!
Hey man, thank you so much, reading feedback about my videos always help me to improve the new ones.
You're right the HD112 would be to overpowered with the LX8500.
I just got the LX8500 last month, (soon a new video will be released) and that head is super powered, big time!
Probably after the LH1000 is the most powered head I ever had. The preamp sections is very similar to the TX600 but with a little improvement on treble and mid frequencies.
The HD210 and the HD115 will be fine with the LX, they're both 500w at 8ohm, so connecting it in bridge mode will give you the full power of the head at 4ohm. You should be fine even using separately, the LX8500 is rated 525w at 8ohm and that little difference wouldn't be a big problem if you don't push with high volume.
Reading about your band scenario, if you want a loud and clear sound you should probably considering the HD410, with the LX8500 is a great combination of punch, clean and defined tone.
About mixing drivers using multiple cabs, honestly I have to tell you, I love it!! I have on my LH1000 (even with the tx600) the two drivers full open and it sounds just great!!!!
If you learn how to use the Hartke preamps, remember they are tone stack, not cut boost, you can't imagine how great is the sound of two 12" with two horns.
If you have any other questions just let me know ;-)
