Hartke LH1000

My buddy has one of these and i absolutely love it!
Only fault i would say is a very limited eq but yet it produces a big fat rich tone.
I would say 500w is a safe bet, maybe as much as 600w.
Ive played through both the 500 and 1000 and there is a big difference in headroom there.
Sure others could add more.

You will not be happy with just one 8 Ohm Cabinet. I run mine with 2 4 Ohm Cab's and it's killer. Also, Bridged mode doesn't seem to be the best way to run these. So in summary I recommend more Cabinets and running in Dual Parallel mode or you won't be quite as happy. I could actually add two more 4 ohm Cabinets if I wanted to but I just don't need to.

Interesting comment about running it bridged. Personally, I've used mine both ways and found that for me, it comes alive when running bridged. Even at the same volume, the tone and response is more to my liking when running bridged and found it to be that way with an 8 ohm Hydrive 410, a 5.3 ohm Sonic 6x10 or a stacked pair of Hydrive 410s. I originally tried the pair of Hydrives with one running on each channel (in the dual mono mode) and was not happy with it. Running in the bridge mode was something else entirely...for me.

And, to answer midavis' original question. I find it a nice clean musical sounding amp. The classic passive Fenderish tone stack sounds good to my ears!

I have owned both. I prefer the LH1000 but the weight alone made me return mine. They sound best with more drivers (410) and up. I also could not use them with a single 210 or a single 112 because of the limited EQ.
Funny thing though is I did get a VXL Bass Attack. And now my Carvin B1000 sounds like a LH1000.

Not trying to argue but I read countless reviews where people complained about them not being loud enough in Bridged mode. Mine is ridiculously loud in Dual Parallel. My volume never goes north of 3/10. In any event one or two 8 ohm Cab's is just a waste for this head that could run more than a 1/2 dozen 8 ohm Cabinets.
As far as weight, I carry mine with one hand and one of my Avatars in the other. And I'm only 180 Lbs.

Plenty of volume/tone from mine driving a HyDrive 410 in bridged mode. I pretty much run my EQ close to 2-10-2 settings and make small changes according to the room etc. Price isn't bad either! Check one out if you get a chance before you buy.

I played through one of these at a back lined gig a couple of weeks ago and was not familiar with the amp. I thought it was way underpowered because I couldn't get any volume out of it. After bringing this issue up in another thread, I found out that the EQ section is different from how I thought it operated (to set the mids flat, you have to dime the mids knob).

Think that flat was at noon, I had the mids cut big time (set the knob at about 10 o'clock, Bass at 1 o'clock, and treble at 1 o'clock). Tone wise it sounded great, but wasn't loud at all...I would love a second shot with this head knowing what I do now.

A question about bridged vs. non-bridged on the LH1000. Say you have 2 cabinets, 8 ohms each. Is their a preference to use the non-bridged mode and run separate cables to the cabinets, or use bridged mode and daisy chain the cabinets? I'm asking this without respect to the Balance control for the non-bridged mode. In other words, the Balance control is set to 12 o'clock and equal power is sent to each cabinet.

If your cabs can handle min of 500w each and you had all the correct cables then the only difference is volume difference.
450w non-bridged and 1100w bridged in theory. I ran two 8ohm cabs and my limitation was driver physical limits.

I would run bridged and daisy chain, but you can do it either way. If I was using a 15 and 410 I would run in non-bridged/stereo so I could control the level to each cab, favoring the 410.

I'm hoping to come back to this amp soon. The happiest I have ever been with my tone was with the lh500 into a hartke 15 basslite and gk 12 green label something. The two cabs stacked up high right at my head was glorious! My whole band was upset with how loud it was but I was in heaven. I think I was playing my old mij e series p that I ditched when the but broke and the electronics were never stable but anyways. It is one sound amp but it is a great smooth classic warm sound. Very different from my anemic shuttle 9.0.

Question. Can I run a 4ohm cab and a 8 ohm cab through the two unbridged power amps?
