Harvesting Time - What are you growing?

My cucumber vines took a turn for the worse..I saw a good bit of stink-bugs on them. I am not happy about this stink-bug thing. There is nothing you can do to keep them away. :)

This may or may not help. For a few years I grew a tobacco plant for it's pesticide qualities. It was always covered with dead bugs. They loved the thing, but paid the price. You might try that.

Nice white flower, but I didn't like the smell so I gave it away.

I forgot a few things. Italian parsley, celeriac, jerusalem artichokes, lavender, rosemary, onions, some carrots left from last year, probably forgot others.

Japanese cucumbers were a total failure here, as well as Chinese long beans, and yellow squash (which got moldy).

Feverfew doing well, so is the ginger and the Fo Ti. Valerian died this year. Mullein got gigantic so I chopped it down (it was higher than the eaves on my house.)

Excellent suggestion, I think I will try that next year, I have been doing eggplants just to keep the bugs focused on them, they seem able to survive pretty much anything.

Aww, I was just bein' funny. I currently live in a small apartment in a school zone so I can't take such a risk.

But in the past I MIGHT HAVE done both. Outdoors strongly preferred.

When I had a roommate we had a pretty sweet indoor crop growing in the spare bedroom. He moved up to Grass Valley and is trying his hand in the outdoor realm. He's using both mine & my wife's cards, so we've got some crops coming with one of the next harvests.

We've been pulling carrots and lettuce from the garden since this weekend. Good stuff.

I checked our bell pepper plants, and we have some smaller peppers coming up finally. Nothing by way of chili peppers though.

The tomato plants are growing like crazy, but I don't see any actual tomatoes still. I did not try the 13-13-13 suggestion though. Just lots of water three times a week and some organic fertilizer my wife picked up. I've been eating home grown tomatoes for a couple years now from my parents garden, so I am really hoping these come up for us. Home grown tomatoes taste so awesome. I can eat them like an apple.

Now things are finally starting to pop: peppers (Hungarian Wax, Jalapeno, Anaheim), cherry tomatoes, leaf lettuce, Thai Basil, Genovese Basil (mmm...pesto), and the first figs will be ripe tonight or tomorrow.

Had to evict the baby quail from the gardens, there were 30+ hanging out there yesterday. They're everywhere this year.

Well, it helps that I bought a "Mammoth Jalapeno" plant when I started. I dont know in what way they differ from your every day Jalapenos, aside from being large. I bought the plant a little over a year ago, last August I had maybe 15 of them, this year there's probably been close to three times as many.

The jalapenos have been great! Theyre huge, and a lot of them are turning red. A tomato plant we had growing last year came back. I thought it was dead, as it was all dried up, and I had the condo gardeners remove it. Either seeds fell on the ground or it was still alive under the soil. We saw it coming back in the spring, and I just let it be. Theyre small, yellow, cherry-sized tomatoes. Im not the biggest tomato fan, but my wife likes them. Theyre just about ready to pick!

Sorry, I must be late to the thread, I have been doing a bunch of peppers this summer: (Hybrids from the Univ of NM) Primavera, Heritage, Vaqueros, Espandas, (some regular varieties) Kung Pao, Serano, Thai Hotties, Habaneros, little red chillies, Banana peppers... I know there must be some that I'm forgetting.

Here are some that I yanked last night after work:
