Has a relative ever embarrassed you at a gig

My relatives have never been a problem at my shows. They may look out of place, but it's next to impossible to actually make a scene in the places we play. Everyone in those clubs is busy making asses of themselves.

As an aside, anybody ever thought about getting revenge on their druncles or whoever by showing up drunk at their job and heckling them? Not so fun when the shoe is on the other foot is it?!

But seriously... FWIW we're about 60% "new country" including the BL's originals, with some older country classics thrown in (Alabama, Charlie Daniels, etc.)... a handful of newer pop songs with our chick singer (Lady GaGa, BlackEyed Peas, Pink, etc.), a smattering of beat-to-death 80s/90s tunes (Love Shack, Billie Jean, Sweet Child, Hands to Yourself, Dont Stop Believin), some oldies (My Girl, Brown Eyed Girl reggae style)... that's pretty much the formula.

That, plus our BL/lead singer is a hunky 29-year old dude with frontman skills for days that all the chicks climb over (literally)... and the fact that we work our azzes off during the show (four-hour show with only one 30-min break is pretty common practice for us). And of course a dead-solid rhythm section.

In my first band (freshmen year of HS) our singers parents thought they were our managers. They did get us a spot at a local Celtic music festival and a block party, so I can't complain too much. The downside was his mom made us censor the 'violent references' in Hey Joe. And at every ***** show she'd badger us from the crowd to play 'free fallin'. She wouldn't let up until we played it to get her to stop.
It made us (well, me anyway) feel constrained, and we couldn't really play for people our age which frustrated the crap out of me.

I never had a relative embarrass me, but the singer of a band I was in decided it was in his best interest to have his girl on stage with us to "help out" with vocals. She's an attractive girl, but completely talent-less. On what was my final show with them the girl came up and this time she brought a friend, a not-so-attractive equally talent-less friend. So as I'm trying to set the levels on my mic, the scary leopard-print spandex topped leather pants wearing friend decided to check my mic with me. She starts off saying "test test" and then turned into a full blown scream " TEST TEST TEEEEEEEEEEEEST!" I rolled my eyes and backed way way up.

And that was the start of the night . . .

I had friends and family at this show who weren't sure what to make of this woman, but my lady could see my frustration. Every time I went to sing my vocal parts she would just sing louder and off pitch. Four songs in, the people I invited walked out because the "helpers" were grinding up on each other. B-A-R-F

Son is in a Battle of the Bands program at a local music chain, Skips Music's Stairway to Stardom. No parents at tryouts, practices or dress rehearsal. Only a paid pro advisor (usually someone from the industry).

Saw him play at last year's show. Professional big time musician critics. Some great bands for teens. All originals.

THAT woman needs her own stage, don't confuse that BS with motherly love. Kid.... run away..... at least go away to school.
