But John Entwistle is dead. He doesn't have such a cool image anymore.
I bet Tom Petersson looks cooler NOW than you do now.
What's with all the lame ass comments about Petersson?
Let's see how you would look at age 59 playing a 12 string bass in America's greatest rock band. Not as cool as Tom, I know that much.
TP is one of the great bass players still playing in a famous band, who has not died in a hotel room with a hooker. So let's get real.
And for the record, I am a HUGE John Entwistle fan, of his bass playing that is.
And YES, Cheap Trick is America's greatest Rock band!

I am a huuuge cheap trick fan, have been since about 1977. I have seen the band more times than I can count .....or remember for that matter....and Rick is funny as hell if you ever get the chance to meet him. I did not get the chance to meet Tom.
I think they are one of the best live bands there are.
However, you seem to make it your personal mission to attack anyone you even think is insulting them. Take it easy......
And I stand by what I said, there were few cooler on stage than Tom 25 years ago.
Also to alot of the add's to the thread, man there are so many great bassists listed here!
And as to the live or dead argument, so James Jameson is any less cool 'cause he's now deceased? I think not, that man left his mark and has influenced many. Same with Entwistle.
And actually I cannot believe I spent the time it took to write this post. Your opinion is yours, mine is mine...rock on!

I see a bunch of good nominees (esp. Larry Graham, John Doe and Tom P.), but Paul Simonon has to be in this discussion--he's one of the coolest-looking dudes walking the earth.

i think sid vicious gets it for me... or at least is up there... he didn't do much more than look cool on stage but at leasthe did that well

He looks like a dork. Simple. There are so many other bassists already posted in this thread who actually look cool that I think it's funny anyone is still even mentioning Petersson.

Chill! I didn't start the thread! I just agree.
Amiee Mann is great! She can't play bass like Tom Petersson, but she is amazing at what she does.
He looks like a dork? There's an intelligent, well thought out observation.
You put the headphones on. Cheap Trick, America's BEST rock band, is best listened to loud!!!
