Has anyone tried ReedJames custom pickups?

Hi I just joined to day I took some time to read the rules and also wanted to become a supporting member. I am very pleased that I have so many people excited about my Work, thank you all for your words. It seam’s we have a few who feel the only way to promote there products is to attempt to discredit others. But rest assure I did not coach any one to post what thy did, and I want to thank you all for expressing your personal experience. if you joined just to respond to this post I thank your dedication as a customer and what you to know that I am grateful. And to all haters this is the one and only account I have .And if I see some one bragging that never used my products ill flag them my self. I was informed of this post by a friend. I wanted to reply and also want to be a contributing member of talk Bass, guess so far not too warm of a welcome. SGD don’t know want to say I took a look at you bass work and got to say nice work .to bad you have such opinion about my work. sorry you feel threatened ,but we are busy here and paying the bills so on and on we go.
O yea my grammar indeed sucks can’t be good at every thing

James, what opinion do I have of your work? I said; "I'm sure his pickups are fine, but they are just Fender copies in wooden cases." Did I say something bad about them? Was what I said untrue? They are very nice cases, and they are Fender copies. There's nothing wrong with that though.

I don't feel threatened at all. You don't make anything similar to what I make. I have made wooden cases as well, but that's not my main business. I do get wooden covers to install my pickups into.

But most of the comments here seem to have clearly been made by you, judging that they all sound like this post you just made.

When you see me shilling under a fictitious screen name, let me know.

I started this thread asking for critiques of Reed James pickups. Yet there are a few immediately jumping to conclusions that the responses are a scam. Amazing how fast one can judge with out knowing the facts. Everybody take a chill pill. Peace!!!

No, what happened was you got one real person who has some and likes them. Then you had two shills which might have been the same person.

I never heard of these pickups before, and that might be the case with many people. So I can't imagine you will get any more real responses.

But the one review was very good.

I only commented on here because the shill was making like that these were the only hand made pickups in the US, and that's not true.

They look like well made pickups, but I know nothing about them.

This is so remarkably unprofessional that I'm now not even going to bother with these pickups. Wow.

it's okay bassplayinggirl,.....I feel sorry for those people who comment badly about Reed James pickups,...it's a SHAME TO have a musicians or Luthier who is not Encouraging each other.
Be careful when you walk guys,...don't look to high,...y'all might Stumble!!

I look forward to see y'all at NAMM show 2011!!.....ALL THE BEST Y'ALL

Nobody's bashing or not encouraging anyone. We all just thought it was weird that two people who probably couldn't spell "talkbass.com" if it was written in front of them decide to show up and pimp a product that so few of us have heard about, then make no other posts. It's textbook internet advertising.
Add this to the fact that the maker of the pickups himself comes in with an attitude and you get a thread like this, the likes of which I haven't seen since I joined talkbass in 2005.
For Chrissakes, we give Steve Wishnevsky respect around here.

The Atlanta Bass Gallery isn't the be-all end-all of bass places. Jim is kind of a jerk.
Also, a custom made-to-order pickup company - a small, one-man operation at that - probably wouldn't mass produce anything. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Have you ever made a pickup? If the answer is no, then you are not qualified to talk about how pickups are made.

And I mentioned myself. I build pickups one at a time. Well maybe three or four at a time, but that's not mass produced. But I wind them one coil at a time by hand.

I also mentioned Bill Lawrence, Jason Lollar, Lindy Fralin, and Cary Nordstrand. Those are people, not Betty Crocker. They are not mass produced. Each company maybe has five employees tops.

If you buy a Duncan antiquity, Seymour will sit there and wind your pickup, and sign it, himself. That's not mass produced either. If you order a Kent Armstrong pickup from him (not WD) he will hand wind it for you. I ordered a Bartolini once, and Bill Bartolini called me up with a question. More than likely he also wound the pickup.

I'm sure his pickups are fine, but they are just Fender copies in wooden cases. Lots of winders make Fender copies by hand, one at a time.

But the fact is ALL pickups are made by a real person, even if they work in a large company like DiMarzio. They have to inspect what they made too. There are people who test them to make sure they are up to spec.

So don't act like this is the only guy out there hand making pickups.

Sorry David, as much as I absolutely agree with you, your choice of wording is poor.
I'm picking up a "Your opinion doesn't matter because you don't have as much experience as I do" vibe from this post.
