Has Gretsch been lying to us for over a decade?

Yeah, nothing helpful there. Sounds like 2220 and 2224 are used interchangeably. Obviously the 2202 is very different since it only has 1 pickup.
On Gretsch-Talk? If so, I am alarmed at one particular Staff Member's slagging of Lobster. Yes, perhaps things could have been done differently but an issue has been spotted.
How's the rear suspension on that? Ever bottom out from all the gear you've loaded in?
I'm sure somewhere on the website there is a clause that reads something like "specifications subject to change without notice". I'm glad I bought a Mustang instead.
The answer is yes, yes, and yes.
None of them will please everyone, but that's true of literally everything ever. Given three options, someone will always want #4. But that doesn't matter.
Your attitude is the same complacency I've seen from others in the thread, 'Big corporations just do this all the time.' S*** rolls downhill, but that doesn't mean you have to sit at the bottom of the hill with your mouth wide open.
Companies can and should be held accountable.
I was at GC a couple weeks ago and played 3 different G2220s through the same Ampeg RB108. None of them were noisey. The only thing was all 3 had different string heights. They all sounded great and played like butta.
You are mistaking realism for complacency.
I'm sure everyone who owns one of these would be thrilled to see one of your first three solutions happen. But some of us figure the reason they put all that CYA verbiage on their website is just to cover this sort of situation.
What we want to see happen and what we might have the power to make happen are likely to be two different things here. It's okay to say that out loud without it being complacency. It's frustrating, but my dad taught me a long time ago that I have no right to expect the world to be fair, because it isn't.
There are so many problems in the world to get worked up about and I get to choose whether or not the pickups in this particular bass rise to that level or not. You don't get to choose for me. You're all welcome to work yourselves up to whatever degree makes you happy.
At least acknowledge it and explain what happened. I'd appreciate that, but I certainly don't expect it.
Wouldn't know; never owned one. But when I moved to AL a used car dealer way down on lower Noble Street in Anniston had one stuck way back on his lot, right in front of a railroad embankment. And I wanted it, WANTed it, WANTED IT!!! But at the time had no money for it.
But to try to answer your question, I suspect the rear suspension would have been pretty robust. That hearse had to carry a fully loaded coffin, after all. The cargo area would have had rollers to facilitate in-load and out-load.

They even contradict theirselves in the same post.
It's a lie, it's not a lie, but it's insignificant, it's not insignificant but it's how things go, it's a cheap bass, it's Fender, blah, blah, blah. Bunch of fanboys. Adults behaving like adolescents.
A company making a mistake like this can be for two reasons.
Save money lying on the specs. That's fraud.
Ignorance. This is almost as bad as the first one. It just reveals that they are incompetent. Incompetent or negligent. How somebody can shrugh their shoulders at this incompetence is behind my comprehension.
Then there is the aspect of the money.
"it's a cheap bass, who cares".
Well, I have news for you. A bass that costs 350-400€ is not a cheap bass. At least in the real world, it's not.
That's a lot of money. That's half of a salary, in my country. A EU country.
As for the rest, yeah, either they are liars, or they are incompetent. Either way it's bad.

Yea I'm watching that thread too, and I'm starting to think this 'Staff Member' flaming all of that toxicity day after day may have some issues going on unfortunately. I mean... it's just relentless off-base accusations directed towards Lobster.
No idea why anybody would want that sort of sanctimonious-bully-style representation in their community, especially with a big golden 'Staff Member' tag under their avatar...
