A) how was I to know that he has a related story he posted somewhere else 2 years ago
and
B) having all bridge pickups isn’t the same thing as saying (per LE Lobster) they’re actually single coils rather than mini humbuckers like Gretsch is currently advertising.

Honestly ask yourself a question: when lots of people notice the same problem, and then it's confirmed visually in two different places two years apart, (the LEL video, and the photo of my own pickups) which is more likely?
That a massive corporation was cutting corners and is trying to cover it up?

I disagree about this example being good. The joycon drift actually caused problems that made playing games difficult to impossible. When the entire point of the system is to play games something that makes that difficult would be a large issue. A similar bass problem would be pots that drifted by themselves while playing. That would cause significant issues with playing the bass.
I don’t have a Gretsch bass and probably never will. Nothing against them but just not playing much these days.

That's also my Gretsch drumset. I used to think Gretsch was pretty swell.
I recorded our first EP, "Personal Best", with that bass.
I really loved playing that bass, it was small, so I could move around more quickly, and frankly it had that rumbling punchy tone that I love from Chris Squire's rickosound Rickenbacker, but I don't make that kind of money, and I find Rick's to be neckdivey anyways (but that tone tho, *chef kiss*)
All I wanted was humbucker pickups in a short scale bass. Instead I got a year long battle with Fender customer service who insisted that I was wrong and refused to do anything to fix it, and then again, I cannot emphasize this enough, they destroyed my bass by cutting off the headstock and then still did not give me a refund for months: it was only after I threatened to sue and started cc-ing the Attorney General Consumer Fraud email on my communications that they cut me a check.
