My drummer broke the tip of my right thumb when we were 17. We were drunk in a car park and something happened with a shopping trolley. Thumbs got caught in the hinge where the trolleys come together. I had so much scotch in me that it didn't even hurt. Started hurting the following afternoon, after it was bandaged up. When it was still hurting after a week I took it to the doctor to get the destroyed nail removed and the wound properly dressed and splinted. The nail grew back, but slightly shorter than my left-hand thumbnail. There's like a few millimetres of nailbed missing on my right thumb.
Since I still play in three bands with the guy, I guess he's forgiven. It was at least 50% my fault.
