Having BassCliff Gig Report Withdrawals

Great chat last night, lots of fun, I sure miss the conversations when I can't make them.

Pretty funny that that book came up in discussion and I'd forgotten all about it. I went back though my old messages and found one from the guy after we discussed my submitting a story with photo. Hadn't thought about it in a long time I guess. :D

I found my conversation with Mr. Paintanida. Now I just need to find the copy I bought. He used two of my TB posts in his book and the picture I sent. We are almost famous! :roflmao:

Actually, this seems like one of those "Who's Who" kind of books. The ad says "we've chosen to recognize you" and now you can buy a book with your name in it for only $17.99, plus shipping and handling. What a scam. But my vanity got the better of me. Besides, the world needed to hear what I have to say.:D:thumbsup: Sure.

Thank you for your indulgence,

To the He-Man Bass Players Club:

Thanks to all of you, my friends, for joining in a very entertaining evening of bass fellowship and camaraderie. I am humbled by the fact that you all would take a couple of hours out of your evening during the week to chat, gossip, tell jokes, reminisce, and try to make the world a smaller, friendlier place.

This evening our main topic was auditions. We regaled each other with stories of our own prowess and ineptitude. We cringed together through tales of others auditioning who couldn't carry a melody in a milk crate or feel the rhythm of an earthquake. Thanks guys!

Next week we will probably move back to our regular Thursday evening. I'm hoping to get together at 6pm (9pm in Jersey) rather than 7pm (10pm in Jersey) but it depends on my work schedule. I'll send the invite by Tuesday night to confirm.

If anyone else would like to join us, please drop your email address in my PM box here. It's always a pleasure to host these Zoom TB GTG meetings. Anyone can join these meetings with the free version of Zoom.

Until next week gentlemen, God bless, give love, act justly, love mercy, walk humbly.

Hi Bill,

Ha! I couldn't find my copy so I ordered another one. I couldn't help myself. I think Rob (@rtslinger) has an entry in that book too. Anybody else?

What a motley lookin' bunch. :) Sad that I missed it.

Hi Robert!

What a motley lookin' bunch. :) Sad that I missed it.

I'm going to send out invites this evening. I'm hoping to GTG on Thursday at 6pm (that's 9pm in Jersey). I told Mrs. BassCliff that Friday night would be for us. Awww. ;)

I also wanted to mention that I got my copy of Confessions of a Musician Vol II delivered today.

Inside I found stories/pictures from @McG:

Here's the page featuring @WI Short Scaler:

Here's the submission from @rtslinger:

And, pardon my vanity, this old country bass player has an entry too:

This publication was done on the cheap. The "author" couldn't even afford page numbers. :roflmao:

Anyway, it's fun to have your story printed in a book. I wonder if anyone else on the forum has submissions in Mark's collections?

Yeah and the amp was my SVT with the 8*10 cab, so surely I would have been dragged off stage like a ragged doll :)

I planned on being there but stuff got in the way. :meh:

Cool! I gave that guy the story and pic a long time ago. Neat that it made it to print. I had pics and a story from my sailmaking days in a Time-Life book in the 70s. Excuse me while I bask in the literary glow. :D

Sorry I missed the chat last night. Got a call from our daughter just after dinner, their furnace wasn't kicking in and since son-in-law was working 3-11 she was looking for an assist. She has some silly thermostat that connects to the internet. Call me crazy but I just don't buy in to the need for that kind of stuff. I was able to bypass it enough to confirm her furnace was working when the connections were there but the thermostat was a hockey puck.

Wait, should I post this in the "Grumpy old guys get off my lawn section?"

Hope to make the next one.

I just want a thermostat to turn on the heat and the air... nothing more... I already have a coffee maker so I don't need a Thermostat to make coffee and check the weather.
This is the best
