I wonder if this is the manufacturer. Everyone else seems to be out of stock.

Anybody have any clue about these basses? They're fairly new and they're California based. $600 imo is pretty steep but the tone sounds fairly decent and almost as equivalent to Spirit Basses.

Might give it a shot but my intentions would be to swap the pickups with Bartolini and add a Bartolini pre to perhaps enhance the basses overal sound.

Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst look, its just kinda Frankenstein-ish.

Also, *that* is what I call a "neck pickup"... too far up from my tastes...

Like I said. Pretty steep pricing for something like this, I'd expect it's price should at least be around the $200-300 range. Can't justify it for $600, the design definitely needs to be taken use to as I simply hated it at first sight but watching a couple videos from the company selling the bass, the sound isn't half too bad. I'm afraid of that neck pickup placement as well

I'll take an ugly looking bass and make it sound pretty any day, just as long as it isn't priced almost close to a modern instrument like Ibanez SR's or Fender Jazzes

If they are almost equivalent to a Spirit, then not a good deal as a new Spirit is $400.

Basically what I told myself. This will be a sleeper unless I stop by and visit their shop to play it in person. The neck looks to me a bit uncomfortable and perhaps hard to wrap around my girlish hands.

My previous order for a manufacturer sample of ABM style headless tuners was cancelled. So... I contacted Rondo music on a whim to see if they sold their Brice headless hardware.

Not only do they sell it, but they beat pretty much everybody in price. A 6 string set cost me 70.00 shipped including the heads. My only complaint thus far is there were no screws included.

My build has not even started. But I'll definitely update with regards to quality once they are in use.

Popped in to say that the really nice thing about my Steinberger Spirit is that it's been great for teaching me about strings and setup. Truss rod is almost too accessible, and when I bought it secondhand the guy threw in two sets of double ball strings and a string adapter. So I've started to play with adjustments and figuring out more of what I really want the feel and gauge to be like, vs just replicating the way things are from when I first got the instrument.

They do (rondomusic.com). The headless stuff isn't listed on the website but I sent them an email and a representative replied with instructions for a manual order.

Interested in the Rondo bits. They are visually identical to the ABM units, but are apparently being sold for far less, and as price is often an indicator of quality, I suspect that a few corners have been cut...

Perhaps, but they are relatively simple machine parts that would be immediately upgraded by just swapping in some higher quality anchor and hex screws (or normal screws) as opposed to entire steinberger-style headpieces...

The machine screw inside the tuner looks pretty delicate but is very similar in appearance to the Steinberger replacement jaws sold by Jcustom.

The housing is made to conform to the shape of the jaw included. I don't know if an off the shelf part would fit.
The machine screw running from the tuning knob to the jaw is replaceable. Its basically just a long but tiny phillips head screw. I'm sure McMaster Carr would carry something comparable.

I was thinking for the headpieces, actually... been drooling on those ABM individual headpieces for a while... so much nicer than a cast one piece you have to fit. Just line them up with a zero fret and you are good! Waaaaaay lighter too!
