Hell hath no fury like a bass player spurned.

Hey Chris, outside of that knucklehead, how is the music scene in Jax?

When i move back to Florida, I am strongly considering going to Jacksonville, and my wife might get stationed at NAS Jax before then anyhow. I'd hate to get stuck putzing around in a poor scene after leaving a good indie scene in Gainesville, and a decent metal scene here in Honolulu.

I cant answer for Chris since he's been at it a lot longer than I have but I can tell you from my point of view the scene sucks around here. i live just north of Jax and I'm finding it really difficult to get and keep a band together.

I found a bassist thats sticking with us and I've been searching for a guitarist since the beginning. We had one but we had to send him packin because of his excessive drinking.

So I placed more ad's and had one guy show up and try out, that didnt work out and I keep putting up ad's and not having any luck. I always thought it was harder to find a bassist than a guitarist, guess I was wrong.

Jimmy Bones,
It depends on what your wanting to do musically here. There is a lot of classic rock/cover bands. There seems to be an indie seen but few clubs cater to it. Is it a money thing or a love-outlet thing? If you follow CL you will see some of the mindset here but it seems to be settling down and the musician community seems to be more on the supporting side of things...I think we weeded out the basher(s) or atleast exposed them for who they are.
I have had a mostly successful local experience here for 17 years. I did different things to support my outlet but I always go back to my solo shows after experiences such as the last.
I would search out the ST.Augustine music scene..They are a much more close- knite supportive community. That is where my focus isat the moment.
Hope this helps you as much as it helped me to vent a little..LOL.. Good Luck!

Or cheap camera mic. Most videos on YouTube that I see sound a lot worse than that.

actually my cam has a stereo mic set at 16 bits/48Khz...the shot where it was right under me (Birthday -superstious flub) may have been way close but the parking lot was a decent distance away to grab everything okay. The above behind shot is a tell tale of where my monitor was set in comparison..It's obvious some need more than others....

hey Chris:

My band is playing Club Myth later this month. We are getting a nice package (guaranteed money, rooms) - but we've never played there. What's the club set up like? Popular?

I have never gigged there myself..I can tell you it's a free standing building next to a hotel and behind ABC liquors/Applebees..fairly new construction. You need to confirm your gig ASAP as some current threads on CL and this link indicate a DJ takeover.. If you are gigging there let me know..I live in the plantation behind it!

I'd say the first red flag is his made-up acronym for Rock Godliness.. seriously, "Rock Sensory Perception"? The hell does that even mean? And he calls his band "Lyons is RSP" ?? Obvious fail there.

And what about the mid-90's style website? Like really, he couldn't have at least used Myspace or something?

Man, I love you guys! You TB'ers make my day like EVERY DAY!
Seriously, the stuff you guys post on here (especially the YouTube links) give me a really good "laugh til I crap my shorts" moment at LEAST once a day!!! :D

The 20 minutes wankfest (I mean guitar solo) at the end...
