Eden's reputation was built on David Nordschow's cabinet designs and David left the company years ago. The 212 design is not one of his.Eden has been very disappointing, considering all the great reviews.
I'm sorry you're feeling let down by the Eden 212 (I don't like them, either), but I wouldn't condemn the company for one product. Their 210s and 410s are David Nordschow designs, and they're great, IMO.
I completely agree with you that the Eden 212 is a letdown, but I agree with others here that there are, in fact, great 410s available and Eden is one of them.
Acme, as Bass_Pounder suggested, is a great place to start for deep-voiced cabs if you're really just too burned by Eden. In answer to your Phil Jones question; you've really got to hear these things to believe them. They're very impressive. If you're not in a hurry, you could also order a cab from Don Oatman at Low Down Sound and he'll voice it any way you like. He builds great stuff at very reasonable prices. Far better than many off-the-shelf cabs.
