Help choosing a bass cab, but not Eden!

There are a great many of highly competent options available. It's a great time to be a bass player! That being said, I would definitely check out GK (since you have a GK head that you love), specifically their cabs with the HMS (since your Fusion 550 has this option). First up would be the Neo212-II, or possibly the Neo410. I would also definitely check out Mesa/Boogie, as you have discussed, since you know you like the sound of their cabs.

Other great brands to consider (which should play nice with the Fusion 550 and which should work well for rock) are Bergatino, Baer, fEARful or fEARless, Acme, Bag End, MAS, AudioKinesis, and Phil Jones.

+1 to Tom's suggestion, above.

I'd suggest checking out Mike Arnopol's MAS112 cab, in particular. I use just one of those with a GK MB800 or MBF800, and it's plenty loud for my bar band gig, which is by no means low volume. It handles the B string easily, and sounds deep without getting boomy. IME/IMHO these are breakthrough cabs for working bassists.

As a bonus, the form factor is easy to schlep, and it only weighs 52 pounds.

Audiokenis TC212 will handle 900 watts for real, get louder than you can imagine, and weigh about 55 lbs. I am a huge fan of Duke's work and am constantly amazed at the power, clarity and low end balls of my TC 112, which keeps up with my loud rock band all by itself. The 212 is epic in volume and clarity without distortion. just my .02$ It will set you back some coin, but worth it IMHO.

Just another perspective. The Eden has a frequency response of 40hz-14k, and the bass on the fusion is +14 at 40hz, but who knows what it also bumps up below 40. Maybe try a high pass filter at 40hz to see if that solves your issue. The ported cab is a bit sensitive to those lower frequency notes, assuming you're using a 5 string.

Great advice here. Fdeck sells on that can selectively cut Freq's below 35 hz and can save your speakers from wasting a lot of their power.

buy matching production cabs of your choice- 115/112/210/410/etc.

There is endless rhetoric related to difficulties stemming from mis-matched cabs. I've found mismatched cab (sizes) with the same wattage/impedance isn't too bad... but birds of a feather sound better together!

I'm sure someone on the thread has mentioned fearful cabs- do yourself a favor and check one out!

Given the new updates in amp tech and cab design- I recommend any combination of pre/class D power amp/3 way cab with internal crossover.

A strong signal + headroom + high power handling = great stage volume and happy booties on the dancefloor!

No. A 215 with the right 15s will lay waste to a 410HLF or an ampeg 610 for that matter. You must not have experienced the right 15s.

Ten-inch speakers go as deep in a room full of air as 15-inch speakers? How about eight-inch speakers? How about four-inch speakers?

Just viscerally, it doesn't make sense. What is this magic that makes ten-inch speakers do the impossible?

Maybe the next hi-fi speakers I buy will just have tweeters, and put out thundering bass.....:)

I have a 2-12 that kills every 8-10 I've ever owned and it weighs 50 lbs, so it's really not a futile point. The futile point is that a 4-10 cab can't produce lows.

yes, 10" speakers "can" go as deep as 15"speakers. What is so hard to understand about that? BareFaced, acme, fearless, fearful, MAS, Berg, etc..

Just because a driver is small, doesn't make it a tweeter ;)

I play a lot of DIY shows with smallish pa's, and I love being able to cover it with a lightweight cab. It's unbelievably loud and it sounds great on stage, all the way to the back of the club. Like a really loud studio monitor.
