Help me choose a new Comp...

Been a while since I started this thread
I too bought a Diamond from L&M and used it for 6 months or so... also compared it with the Effectrode which was a nice comp, but almost $400 at my local shop!Eventually I gave up the Diamond for the best Comp I've ever used... the Invalid Link Removed It sounds far more 'neutral' and is way more flexible than the Diamond. two channels, midi and lots of indicators...
Definately worth a listen for anyone out the looking for a great stomp comp!
I like the diamond quite a bit... The compression is very good and natural sounding, but it does add a glossy kind of sizzle to your tone at the output. Hard to describe I guess... Because it's pretty subtle.
Bongo... Have you tried or reviewed g-lab? It's an great unit that deserves a look IMO.
G Lab, interesting.....my Diamond Comp is still back ordered and I'm not sure if I want it anymore......hope it gets here soon so I can try it out.....

Haven't seen one FS yet... the US G-Lab vendors don't appear to carry it. Where did you get yours?
I got it from my local shop... Invalid Link Removed in white rock, bc. I'm shocked they even carry the stuff really... but I guess they played the G-Lab stuff at namm and couldn't resist!

When I bought my first compressor it was an MXR Super Comp. For my requirements, it was garbage. I sold it a few months after it gathered dust in the top drawer.
After doing extensive research on TalkBass, I went and bought an EBS MultiComp. It's never been turned off since.
Now I don't want to fanboy something just because I own it (which is hard not to do). The best compressor really depends on what really needs compressing.
For me the MultiComp is my holy grail because individually compressing the lows, mids, and highs allows me to punch through the wall of sound my guitarist makes. My lows are already low enough, my highs are already crisp enough, but the biggest difference my compressor makes for me is how it brings my mids up to really define my picking without making me sound clacky.

Man, I was just up in BC for a week around Labor (Labour) Day, dang it--could have checked the pedal out then.
You get it yet? I think its a nice pedal and worth the wait.
It really cleans up the tone also. Great for adding that extra tone to your sound. There are alot of compressors out there and you will probably buy others but this compressor - Diamond - is very different than most. Its worth the wait.
I have been traveling the same road in search of THE compressor. I sent several emails to Retrospect & finally received a reply & they have begun production of the Squeeze Box again!! That's the good news, bad news is they want $700!!! Sorry just toooooooooooo much for a pedal. I then fixated on the Lightning Boy Opti-Mu Prime, ceased production 3/14. Missed the boat by 2 months. Just the luck I've been having with my quest. I finally zeroed in on the Effectrode PC-2. Still pricey, got mine on Ebay for $339 but less than half of the cost of the Squeeze Box. It arrived this afternoon & going to try it at rehearsal Thursday evening. I want to thank Ovnilab because I read his reviews & used his info in my decision making.
I forgot about this post, and as I've looked back through it I'm surprised the Origins Cali76 wasn't mentioned. Don't have one yet - DO have Carl Martin (love it!) and MXR Bass Compressor (love it too!) ,,, but plan on buying one the first spare $350 I get.
I love my Compressore. Great pedal, built to last, highly configurable and can be had used for <$150. It's the only compressor I've used that I thought enhanced my tone instead of sucking it out. Great pedal.
(Edited to remove the comment about adjusting the compression according to a high or low band - the Comrpessore does not have that feature. I was thinking of another pedal on my board, and lack of sleep is getting the better of me).
Still a kick ass pedal.

Bongomania - you are right - the Compressore does not allow you to adjust the compression according to high or low band. I've edited my comment. I am running on about 90 minutes sleep and was confusing my Compressore with my Distorsore, which sits next to it on my pedalboard, the Distorsore does allow one to adjust overdrive for low and high bands. Just a little more delirious than usual today.

The Cali76 probably wasn't mentioned because all the posts (except the most recent few) in this thread are from 2011, and I don't believe it had been released.

I will say that if Markbass did release a dual-band Compressore, it would kick the living $#!+ out of the comp pedal market.
