Help me choose fretless

Neither...I like my Ibby Portamento SRF700

The SRF705 is the 5 string version.

The reason I say this is that the Portamento also has a Piezo pup that is passive and provides another sound option that I believe the 2 fretless basses you're looking at do not.

If you haven't tried out one of these I urge you to do so.

I’ve played both.

The neck and ease of playing is equally good on both IMO. For build quality I’d give a slight edge to G&L.

So with that out of the way, the G&L wins hands down for me as far as overall tone and tonal versatility goes. I’ve never been able to get a Warwick to go beyond that core Warwick sound. Which might be a major plus if that’s your thing. But I get tired of it after awhile. However maybe that's just me.

tl:dr - T’were me I’d get the L-2500

The Warwick will do the Warwick sound VERY well, but that's all it'll ever do. Even though it's got the versatility to change up the sound via the series/single coil/parallel switches (if i recall correctly), it'll ALWAYS sound like a Warwick. The G&L however, is a swiss army knife able to cop multiple tones that can vary wildly.

If you dig the Warwick sound, nothing else will do. If you want more versatility (and better looks IMO) then the G&L might be a better fit. I agree with most on this thread... the G&L gets my vote.

That G&L is gorgeous, and in that position it's definitely the one I would go for.

...however, I have never found a Warwick that even remotely worked for me. Top-quality stuff, but pretty much every design decision common to Warwicks is the exact opposite of what I would choose in a bass. I find them deeply uncomfortable and I can never seem to dial in a sound that suits me. Your mileage may vary, I know they have a lot of fans out there.

As most others have said and I would agree ... I'd go with the G&L. I own and play a G&L regularly. I had a 'wick for a while and it did not pass the long term test for me.
Warwicks have great tone, but for me it just wasnt as long term comfortable to play.

As to your dilemma however...not sure how the pricing in Europe is going for used basses; but here in the states the used US made G&L will typically sell for much less than the used, Neck Through, German made Warwick. This might factor in my decision depending on where that price point was at.

2nd hand Warwick's have low prices at Greece, i don't know exactly why. But we have been in economical crises for almost a decade so the prices of used basses are going down
