Sometimes I call my blue bass "blue bass".

I think of my Squire Bass as 'Amber', because that's the colour, but I always call it Squier. I Have a Sire stick between Germany am Vietnam in Antique White so 'Ant', although for some reason I thought it was Olympic white, so I had 'Amber and Ollie' in my head, but it will just be called Sire.

As a teacher I refer to my kids as 'my kids' which sometimes throws someone when I say 'one of my kids...' and they think I mean my own children. So who is going to have a clue what I'm talking about if I were to refer to my Basses as 'Ant and Amber'

It's kind of a nice idea, but not really piratical and basically daft. But there's nothing wrong with being daft.

Probably worth keeping in mind that you'll almost certainly outgrow you first bass. No point in planning for an old age together. Once you know what you're looking for in a bass and find one that ticks all the boxes and you've kept it as your main play for a while... Then if you're still of the bass-naming persuasion, the answer to your question will be self-evident.

I just realized that I forgot that of the various basses I own, one was named by the seller. I know this because there's a print-gun sticker of a "Tammy Lee" on the top hip edge where only the player can see it.
I figger it could be his wife, daughter or girlfriend's name, but the sticker is like brand new, so mebbe it was his latest groupie's name.
