So... Around six oclock this morning, i was stalking the Craigslist for sales (as I often do). A new listing read 72 body, 71 neck fender precision. Asking price was $350. I immediately called to rsvp the instrument if all was as advertised. We arranged a meeting, I saw and tried the bass, and then bought it.
Now here's where you come in; I am certain this bass is valid (as advertised), but over my eight years of playing, I have never owned a fender product, and I know nothing about vintage fenders. I am more than confident that I made a great purchase here, and even if its not what I think it is, I am happy with my buy. It plays great, and the electronics sound clean, no scratches.
Here are some pics of what I can see on the outside. Pickguard is gone (will be purchasing fender tortoise), frets have definate wear, I suspect the pup and bridge covers are not original (or direct replacement), and maybe the body was refinished, has an uneven texture to it.
Again, I feel great about this bass regardless of how good or bad of a deal it was. I just would like some help figuring out exactly what it is I bought. Pics attatched are all on the outside, I don't currently have access to any tools. I'll be buying some in the next couple days, and I'll post pictures of the guts as soon as I can. In the meanwhile, any knowledge you fine people could pass on to me would be very much appreciated.
