Help with die cast toy identification

So, completely non-bass related question about what the toy shown in the following pictures is (other than a die cast toy made in the late 70s or early 80s). Something that I got at a garage sale as a kid and have always wondered the history - somethings from an old scifi show or just a random toy. No markings on the bottom and the "drill" part is plastic. Hoping that the collective diversity that is talkbass may have an answer. Thanks.

I have no idea what that toy is, but that looks very similar to something that almost scared me out of ever getting a colonoscopy. I spent many years believing that's what was in store for me the dreaded day that I was going to be "required" to get one. FWIW, colonoscopies have nothing to do with anything of the sort.
